Underrated place. It is not showing as one of the first in the google, not to be found in the guides, not to be told about when asked about good mici. There is a huge charcoal grill inside, where the fresh food is being prepared. There is an option for 3 mici with fries and mustard for 36 lei, which is below average for an old town. There are four types of mici, all of them mixed meat from mutton, pork, lamb and beef in different combinations, with different spices as well. There is possibility of ordering mici plate for 82 lei, that consists of 8 mici - 2 of each type, so you can try every one of them, and choose your favourite. Meat is of really good quality and fresh. I've travelled all accross the Balkan area and ate ćevapčići in a dozens of places, every country has its own style preparing them, everywhere they taste different, however here you can try real Romanian mici of the best quality.
I found this place randomly, it just looked like "here can be the food I like" and it was a great choice, we came back the day after. If you have social anxiety, you can also sit by the table, stan QR code and order whatever you want from the app. If you create an account, 10% worth of your order will be collected as points that may be used for the future discounts.
So, long story short, great place in the old town, definitely not a tourist trap, for reasonable price you can eat here...
Read moreCity Grill Covaci is one of those restaurants that makes you want to come back again and again. It’s located right in the heart of the Old Town, and it has such a welcoming vibe that you immediately feel relaxed the moment you sit down. The service is quick and friendly, and the staff make sure you’re well taken care of without ever being pushy.
The food here is really, really good. The menu has a great mix of traditional Romanian dishes and international options, so there’s something for everyone. Everything I’ve tried has been tasty, fresh, and well-prepared. The portions are generous too, so you definitely won’t leave hungry! Their grilled meats are perfectly cooked, and the sides are just as flavorful. I also appreciate that the presentation is nice without being over the top—it’s all about good, honest food that actually tastes as good as it looks.
Another big plus is the pricing. For the quality and the location, the prices are very reasonable, which makes City Grill Covaci a great spot whether you’re just out for a casual meal or having dinner with friends. You feel like you’re getting real value for your money.
Overall, it’s a place where you can enjoy delicious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere without spending a fortune. Definitely one of the best choices in the Old Town if you’re looking for a good meal at a fair price. Highly...
Read moreI feel like I have to amend my previous four star rating. It is not the City Grill I used to know and love. The menu is smaller and the Romanian warm appetizer that I used to love is no longer offered. I ordered a tripe soup and It had only a few little bits of tripe. Sad to see this chain so lackluster.
This particular location is beautiful, with the massive grill and its copper hood placed right in the the middle of the restaurant, where you can see and smell it best.
The food is good, with an array of traditional dishes that the curious traveler should definitely try , to figure out what food in these parts tastes like. I was a bit disappointed with the mititei, we ordered a couple different kinds, which in itself is unusual - typically, there’s just one kind - but they were all way too salty. I enjoyed the cold and hot appetizer combos, the tripe soup was very good and nicely presented but not hot enough. All in all, more hits than misses. I return to this location over and over because i love the old town and the friendly environment.
They have also created a customer faithfulness app that sounds like a good idea and I signed up for; unfortunately I am not there often enough to make...
