My resrervation was made a long time ago, but I was given a room for desabled persons without beeing asked. Plus it was an inside room, facing an atrium, which means that there are no windows you can open without beeing seen from accross or from anyone passing by the corridor of the hotel's floor. The room had also an inside door (obviously locked) that comunicates with the next room. That, plus the fact that the walls are very thin, anything said or done from any guest of one of the rooms could annoy the guests of the other room. If you can be heard and seen, that meens you have no privacy. The fridge was not working. Neither was the hair dryer. All the above was the description of the room 401. Avoid at any cost, unless you are person with special needs and you want someone to take care of you next door. During check out, they tried to charge us with something we never had. But this may not be the fault of the hotel management necessarily. Cleaning was ok. Breakfast was also ok. We even asked for a basket the day we were supposed to live earlier and we got one. Service was good. I noticed a little difficulty in speaking english, but we got this over. A highligh: One of the ladies in the reception is extremely professional, speaks english fluenftly and is very efficient in problem solving without being forced to. I think she needs a pay rise. The hotel is very well lockated, at the eldge of the old and the new town, near the metro and bus station. To sum up, this is not a four star worth hotel whatsoever. However, if you book this hotel, it is a good idea to combine it with a reservation in Hanu lui Manuc resturant at your first day, because it is literally at the...
Read moreI'm an hotel reviewer reviewing around 12 hotels a year. This hotel is an historic building located next to a charming church. Pros: location! In the old city, pretty far from the noise of the pubs but near the road so no need to walk with your luggage across the old city but you will hear the noise from the highway and they do tend to honk alot. Customer service is superb! Special thanks to the gorgeous Bianca who is the kindest and most helpful consierge, also the charming manager Alex does above and beyond to make everyone happy. Cons: rooms are not so comfortable, little changes could have make a big difference. Curtains are smaller than the windows so lights from the street lit the room all hours of the night, also pillows are old, has lumps and smells of previous guests night sweat which is really hard to ignore. Air conditioning doesn't work in all rooms and in the ones they do have ac its located above the bed and the stream of cold air is hitting your head all night long. Woke up with a bad cold that ruin my vacation. Doors are not hermetic, you can see the light from the corridor and hear everything like you sleep in the hallway. Guests made a lot of noise during all hours of the night, even in 4 and 6 am, yelling and making it impossible to sleep. Also some rooms are close to the elevator which bang really loud all night long. But- you can use ear plugs which is kindly provided. All and all I liked the hotel although I didn't sleep well. I would have give 3 stars but thanks to Bianca & Alex I...
Read moreThis wasn't a 4-star experience. The street outside the hotel smells of sewage and every evening when we returned to our room it had the same stench. I guess it seeped in during the day, we had to air it out. Service was OK, but only to the limit of the hotel services (did bring new towels when asked, offered to get take away breakfast trays if we left earlier in the morning and responded quickly to a call regarding the room safe, however do not expect to get any worthy recommendations from the staff). The room had missing amenities which appeared only after it was cleaned (coffee capsules, another type of soap that only appeared on the last day of our stay). They do not have conditioner and personally I don't recommend their soap or shampoo either. We specifically asked for a room with a shower rather than a bathtub as we read that the tubs are dangerous. We received a room with a tub, the height of which reaches above my knees and it only has grippers on the far side and not where you actually get in and out. I nearly slipped multiple times. Additionally, the bar holding the shower head was broken so the shower head was held lower than my head (I'm 158 cm). I didn't enjoy breakfast, it was only relevant to kids or people that enjoy meat first thing in the morning. There was no salad selection at all. Location is nice, near the old town and the Unirii metro station. All in all it was OK, but not up to expectations and can definitely be...
