This building has a peculiar layout; the reception area is not the entrance to the hotel, the “ lobby is a construction site into which the former exterior kitchen windows must vent, and there is only an outdoor restaurant. The worst aspect is that many rooms have no exterior window, but only have access to the corridor .|| A lift has been installed since some of the previous reviews, particularly useful in that the stone stairs are in an extremely long single flight.Someone will fall down the cellar steps from the lobby one day- they intrude into the floor with nothing to make their presence clear.|| As well as the building layout being disorganised, the staff were very inexperienced, could not readily find our booking, nor get the wi-fi to work properly.I think this was a matter of inadequate experience and extreme youth, rather than unwillingness. The manager was good enough to send on a valuable item of lost property, for which I heartily thank him.|| Our room was well furnished, with working air conditioning! I slept well. Unfortunately the bathroom was inferior- tiny useless basin with tarnished taps, leaky shower enclosure,no proper sliding holder for the handset, and bad water control.|| There were adequate towels, but too few pillows.||We did not eat any meal...
Read moreWe had Room 103 which was a lovely large room with a huge comfortable bed and fantastic view of the Square. The air conditioning worked well. The bed was comfortable. We requested extra pillows and these were supplied within a few minutes of asking. The room had a mini fridge with water and soft drinks which were payable on check out. |The shower was large with plenty of hot water. |There is no kettle in the room which was the only thing we felt it lacked but managed without as we were out and about on the 3 nights we stayed. It was a perfect location especially as it was hot while we visited so it was good to be close to the old city centre. Breakfast was extra which we ate each morning at the Amber Caffe attached to the hotel for 45 lei. |On booking the hotel I contacted them to ask if they did airport transfers, which they did, so saved us a taxi or bus. The airport is only 10 minutes away. Sibiu is a beautiful city and it was good to be there during the theatre festival with lots of street...
Read moreWe booked two rooms in this hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.
One of the rooms had no windows at all, and there was constant loud noise from the restaurant ventilation system until 11 p.m. The room was also dusty – especially the pictures hanging above the bed.
For the second room, we booked a Deluxe with a baby crib for our child under 2 years old. Instead of a crib, the staff placed an inflatable mattress, which is completely unacceptable. The so-called Deluxe room only had one very small window facing directly into a wall of the next building (about 2 meters away).
The shower cabins in both the standard and deluxe rooms were equally tiny, and the soundproofing was practically nonexistent. To make things worse, some of the windows opened into the corridor, letting in light and noise at night, making it difficult to sleep.
This was our second and, unfortunately, last stay in this hotel. Definitely not...
