Armatti — Hotel in Zona Metropolitană Brașov

TL:DR: All around great experience, please choose this hotel before the "safe bet" of other big brands you will get much better experience. This hotel is at least 3.5 stars in quality.

The best 3 star hotel I have ever been to.

Allegedly the owner is a newcomer to the hospitality business and you can really feel she paid a lot of attention to details and her first project. Where most, often franchise/chain hotels, offer you a very limited experience and rooms can feel cold/sterile/calculated and small at 3 stars this hotels offer rooms with a very nice warm and complimentary color schemes. During our 2 week stay I always felt good in our room. It was also very spacious and AC had more settings than freezing cold or OFF.

Rooms are cleaned each day very nicely and the whole hotel feels very very clean. You even get nice local green brands of tiny soaps and shower gel.

The staff is great and helpful and don't worry everybody speaks English!

Compared to franchise 3 star hotels the breakfast is much much better. Several types of tea and coffee in the morning. I didn't eat much meat but my coworkers enjoyed their meaty dishes whereas I had 5+ types of cheese to choose from each morning (great mozz with pesto and tomatoes) with healthy mix of vegetables and fruits to choose from. The mess hall was never overcrowded as it happens with these min maxing hotels such as Holiday inn etc. and everything was expertly restocked.

The hotel is situated closely to the city centre, approximately 7-10 minutes on foot. 24/7 small grocery store and bakery across the street and the best restaurant in Brasov 3 minutes by foot. (Try Bagatelle Brasov! you get a meal that is amazing and would cost you upwards of ~60 euro in Western Europe here for 20 or less, amazing salads, soups and home...

The hotel is well situated very close to the main square of the village of Brasov. The room is spacious. I must admit that the whole place is clean. There are modern art paintings well situated in the public spaces (and yes, they are good enough). I wouldn't call it a cozy place but it is more than ok.. Without any traditional design (as the most buildings in the area). Just a bit modern and tastefully minimally designed. The people working here are very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, 1). Very expensive for what it offers 2). Can't understand why they charge extra for an open (yet semi-private ) parking space (in the yard of the hotel just after the main entrance of the road). 3). THE WHOLE DAY AND NIGHT THERE WAS A STRANGE NOICE like air circulation and another like water rolling. Although the bathroom venting and the air conditioning in room were off . Then I discovered it was wobbling form the ventilator pipes (and the water noise was coming from the pipes connected to the rooms ventilator system of the whole hotel I guess). 4). The view from the window was as if you were living in a prison. Why? Because the external window blinds wouldn't move.... 5). Needs some maintenance (e.g. the shower wouldn't run enough water because there are water salts condensed. The bathroom mirror has moisture marks The carpet has strange marks). 6). I didn't dare to include breakfast in price, for the price they sell it compared to the prices in the various cafe restaurants e.t.c. in the main area. 7). Can't understand why nowadays there isn't a small refrigerator in the room (except the very small - fully loaded - very expensive - compared to the store prices - mini bar). The location of the hotel is perfect regarding the Old Town of Brasov. |Free parking when there’s available space. |The person responsible of the reservation put us in a room with a doublebed and not twinbeds when we specifically asked for it in our reservation. We arrived early at the hotel but was not able to check in. When we came back, apperantly other people had been booked in rooms with twinbeds. Their suggestion was for us to pay more for a bigger room, when they made the mistake. Not serviceminded and the receptionist seemed unwilling to help us out with the situation. Ended up talking with the manager of the hotel, cancel our booking online and make a new reservation for more money directly at the desk. This is not what we came for. A small request that messed up the beginning of our stay. Would recommend others to call ahead and make sure you actually have your requests fulfilled...
