Disappointing experience, maybe, the most disappointing in Brasov. The place seemed to be promising- great interior design, fresh pasta, a wide selection of meats and cheeses, a long wine list, and plenty of positive reviews. So that's why we've chosen this restaurant to celebrate a birthday with a family of 4. Of course, we made a pre-reservation 3 or 4 days before and even asked for a certain table on the summer terrace, but when we came, they gave us another one-ok, nothing special, we took it. Need to mention, that tables for 4 people are too small even for 3 adults to feel comfortable, especially, if you want not only to have a drink but to eat. You simply have no space to move or to put something extra, like the bread basket, on the table. The waiter moved the items on the table on his own, didn't care about our comfort, but just to fit all he need to, like in the Tetris game. Moreover, he looked and behaved kinda arrogant, when he heard, that we don't speak Romanian. And after bringing our order he didn't care about us at all-even when it started to rain, we used to move our table by ourselves to put it under an umbrella. He even didn't offer us a blanket or asked if we were ok. Ok, it's an attitude and I can stand this if I get tasty food. But the food was also a big disappointment. We had 3 seafood pasta, which was really average, I'm not trying to compare it with those we had in Italy, but here in Brasov, you can find really better/tastier seafood pasta for this price. And the worst dish was an ossobuco. I used to eat this dish before and know for sure that is good quality one-the veal shank should be cooked long and slow to make the meat extremely tender and delicious. This meat was tough, full of veins and 75% of the serving was bone. I could barely chew it, I really tried, but I failed and ended up just putting my bread in the stewed veggie sauce it goes with, just to fill myself. Last but not the least-some prices on the bill were not the same as on the menu- for example, the price of the vine was 7 lei higher, the price of the focaccia was 2 or 3 lei higher and so. It's not about money but about the quality of service. So, I don't recommend you to visit this restaurant and I won't come again here...
Read moreI eat at Artegianale quite often, and I have visited all their locations. The most beautifully decorated is the one on Muresenilor, but I am inclined to say the food is a little bit tastier and the atmosphere more intimate on Lucian Blaga.
I am a big fan of their design and attention to details, starting with the eclectic but really put together decorations, the dim light, the table setting and even the beautiful scent from the diffusers. They really are one of the most beautiful restaurants in Brasov.
The service was most of the times ok, sometimes too delayed, but the staff are merely polite and helpful.
I am a gourmet eater and real foodie, so let’s talk food now! If you know what to order, you’ll have a great experience at Artegianale! Carbonara is cooked to perfection. Crunchy guanciale, and creamy yolk sauce. Opposed to that, the seafood calamarata I had today really disappointed me. I just felt the texture of the seafood is really mushy screaming I am taken out of the freezer and I have no taste. I just felt that this dish was blend, but could really be elevated with a bit more effort. The mussels left in their shell, the pasta made freshly in house, the sauce more flavoursome. Honestly, from all the pasta I tried here, I keep eating carbonara for a reason. Their puree, on the other side, is amaaaazing! Well balanced, smooth and tasty. I always choose it as a side dish to the duck confit which is also amazing. Pizza is great too, they really know their dough! I also recommend you try their porchetta. Their salads could use some more work too. Tiramisu is quite basic, they talk about their panna cotta a lot, also can be elevated.
In conclusion, there is room to perfect the menu in order to meet also the connoisseurs’ taste and the looks of the restaurant. For now, the pasta part of the menu is a bit disappointing for everyone who ate real pasta dishes elsewhere.
The prices are fair, but I advise you to book a...
Read moreFor a fancy restaurant, the service was completely unrefined. The welcome was warm we were shown to our table, and everything seemed great at first. But then we waited 15 minutes just to get the menu, and another 20 before anyone came to take our order. A friend and I both ordered an aperol spritz or at least that’s what was written on the menu, because what we actually received was just some kind of sparkling water with a hint of orange. Same bland drink for both of us. We politely asked the waiter if he could add a shot of aperol to each. What followed left us speechless. He started unloading his frustrations on us, going on about how he has 20 years of experience in Italy, and that this is the “authentic” recipe. He even said that if I knew what aperol spritz was supposed to taste like, I wouldn’t be asking for such a thing. We all just waited for him to vent, and then calmly said that taste is subjective, and we’d still like an extra shot of aperol in our drinks. His response? He looked straight at me and said “Just so you know, it’s going to cost extra!” To which I replied, “That’s fine.” And it didn’t stop there. My husband ordered a Coke, and they brought it to him warm. He waited another 10 minutes just to ask for some ice. The ice finally came 15 minutes later… in a bucket. Yes, a bucket! And it was slammed on the table with clear disdain. As for the food, the carbonara was overly salty. When we mentioned it, the response came again from a place of arrogance and superiority “That’s how it’s supposed to be made. If you really knew how carbonara is done, you wouldn’t complain.” It’s a shame. The location has potential, but the staff behave like they assume you’ve been living...
