Arrived in St. Petersburg, RUS and checked into the hotel. Hotel staff was very welcoming and friendly. Able to speak English. We were charged for a registration fee of RUB350.00 per person. Seemed unusual because when we checked into our hotel in Moscow, RUS, there was no such fee. The hotel staff advised this is a normal practice and assured us it’s nothing out of the ordinary. If someone can please shed some light on this fee, that would be great. Googled, it could’ve been for the World Cup regulations.||The hotel provides a free tea and biscuits service at their cafe/restaurant between 17:00-18:00 everyday. Nice touch.||The interior design of the hotel felt a little dated. Not a deal breaker.||Our room was on the second level. After you get out from the elevator, you have to carry your bags up a small bit of stairs to get to your room. This can be a hassle if individuals do not have strength to carry heavy luggages.||Our booking included free breakfast but we cannot comment on that as we chose sleeping in over it. =)||The room is cosy, bed was okay, walls seemed pretty thin as we were able to hear the guest next door snoring and their phone vibrating. The bathroom was decent sized. Our room did not have a view, can’t say too much about that.||The location of the hotel is great. Very close to metro station, shopping, restaurants, pubs, convenient stores and more.||The slight downside was that, if you were coming back to the hotel past midnight, you had to buzz in at the gate.||Overall nice stay, would definitely consider to stay here again on our next...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel for 4 days while visiting St. Petersburg in August 2014. We arrived from Moscow by over night train at 8 am and went to the hotel which is about 10 minutes walk from the station. We were able to leave our bags in storage until the room was ready. Just be aware if you have a foreign passport with a visa you will need to give the hotel staff your passport so that they can register you. They charged us 200 roubles and gave us a copy of our passports. They return the passport later in the day. The room was small but comfortable, clean bathroom and working air conditioning. There is free wifi in the room, just get the code from reception. Also don't forget to try the English tea which is available from 5-6 and is free. It comes with a nice selection of baked sweets. Overall the hotel is in a great location near the main Nevsky street and near a metro station. Highly...
Read moreWe found the reception to be strangely bureaucratic comparing to all the other hotels we stayed in St. Petersburg. We also felt like there were little traps in every corner to charge people money in a dishonest way. Not a bad hotel in hygiene or room quality but would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone as these little things affect your holiday mood and can be quite annoying. The breakfast is not bad but the receptionist duties and manners need to be updated to the present time. And the Sherlock Holmes concept is so antagonistic when there is so much material in Russian culture, it is a shame they couldn’t come up with something more sincere...
