Had a number of problems here. First, our room was infested with bedbugs. We both had numerous bites all over our body. We were allowed to do our laundry for free, told we'd receive a refund, and moved to a different room (about the only good part of our stay). ||||Second, on our last night, we asked if we could first, check out in advance (as we were leaving early the next morning and it rarely seemed there was anyone at reception) and then get the refund we were assured (twice), she was met with pure hostility. The employee who seemed to be drunk and in a hurry to get out to the nearest bar to celebrate someone’s birthday started spurting very personal attacks at us. The things she said included “after all I did for you guys you should be ashamed asking for a refund” and “it’s people like you that make me lose faith in the world” in an attempt to make us, more particularly my girlfriend, feel as worthless as possible. She didn't really do anything above and beyond for us as the things she did are pretty much expected when you ruin someone's trip with bedbugs. ||||Don't stay here. Go spend your money at a nicer hotel (still cheap in this city) that won't try to make you feel terrible...
Read morePoorly run hostel! In less than 4 hours, we got quite a good overview of it...
We checked in, but got put out of the beds because they were already booked. Then we couldn't pay because the staff didn't know how to use the credit card machine. After all that, we decided to go in town only to come back to... A closed building door! Turns out the owner was supposed to take the night shift but was out of town.
We had to wait 1hour in the middle of the night until we forced the door in. Calls, and rings were loud enough to wake people up in the hostel, but with no staff around, it can't be helped. In total, 5 people got stuck outside for hours, including 1 that went to sleep at another hostel.
The best of all is the owner trying to sneak out of owning the poop by blaming neighbors for locking the building door, and leaving the morning shift staff deal with fallouts with rings and bells of possibly losing her job if she didn't handle it properly!
If not for the hostel itself, avoid it for its management (and the possibility of being...
Read moreConvenient location and cheap , however there are a lot of hostels around the area with similar prices. ||Some of the the staff, were nice and friendly. Yes it's clean , I wake up early on some mornings and see a staff member mopping the floors. ||Beds are not the best, they had no side guards on their top bunks, and you will have to use a chair since they had no ladders to climb.||Not a place if you dislike passive smoking, since people sit on the stairs to the hostel, that's their smoking area which you would have to pass.||I stayed in two Hostels in Belgrade , one in Nis and one in Novi sad .Hostel Downtown would be a better option in Belgrade with and open area to sit down and relax, ( gets booked out so book ahead) |||Overall Serbia is pretty cheap anyways, and not the best country to visit compared to its neighbors, the saying "what ever Serbia got its neighbors got it better " . So I did not really expect a lot from my stay at...
