5/5 - Belgrade Breakfast Brilliance at Restoran Mihailo!
My taste buds embarked on a Balkan adventure at Restoran Mihailo in Belgrade, and let me tell you, it was a breakfast bonanza! From the first sip of strong Serbian coffee to the last bite of flaky burek, Mihailo delivered an experience worthy of a 5/5 rating.
A Feast for the Senses: The menu at Mihailo is a celebration of traditional Serbian cuisine, with each dish bursting with fresh, local ingredients. I savored the “Ajvar”, a creamy dream of roasted red peppers and paprika, and the Uštipci sa Sirom, crispy cheese-filled pastries that were pure comfort food heaven. The star of the show, however, was the Srpska Palačinke: fluffy pancakes filled with sweet or savory delights, each bite a testament to Mihailo's culinary expertise.
Hospitality Warmer than Serbian Sun: The warmth of Serbian hospitality shone through at Mihailo. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, patiently explaining the menu and offering recommendations with genuine enthusiasm. They made me feel like a cherished guest, not just a customer, and their smiles were as infectious as the aroma of freshly baked bread.
A Belgrade Gem: The atmosphere at Mihailo is charming and authentic. The cozy interior, decorated with traditional elements, transported me straight to the heart of Belgrade. The outdoor seating, perfect for sunny mornings, offers a vibrant glimpse into the city's life. Whether you're seeking a quiet breakfast nook or a lively spot to soak up the local vibe, Mihailo caters to it all.
In Conclusion: Restoran Mihailo is not just a breakfast place; it's an experience. The combination of delicious, authentic food, warm Serbian hospitality, and a charming atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone exploring Belgrade. I wholeheartedly give it a 5/5 rating and urge you to discover its magic...
Read moreThe waiter asked me to change my table to a smaller one after himself showing me the initial one. I was ok with it I just wanted him to put me away from smokers cause it gives me nausea. He showed 3 small tables, all were dirty. I asked him clean them before sitting, the waiter was upset and asked me to wait rudely, as if I was responsible of all his stress. I said fine and waited too long. Then he put me to a table where I was surrounded by smokers! I had to swap to the other small table available where there were no smokers around. Waiter came and told me off saying “you made me clean the table and now you are sitting here!”. I told him the reason was smoke coming to my face, but he continued to be rude so I had to leave! Excuse me?! But it is your job to clean the tables & remove dishes anyway! I did not ask you to clean a specific table, you chose it for me and you failed to choose the right one for your customer because of heavy smoke around it! I am sorry that I have to agree with the negative reviews . Hope the managers are...
Read moreMaria was marvelous. She greeted us with a huge smile and was personable throughout.
We came in because of the atmosphere: outdoor tables with heat lamps overhead, fire places and blankets for a cozy, warm evening. The vibe was alive, friendly and inviting.
The tomato soup was the star of our meal. I would give that a 4.5 out of 5. Shawn's karadodedva was tasty, the fries just passable; it seemed that the fries (frozen, probably), tartar sauce and ketchup were commercially made. My pork neck was delicately and most flavourfully smoked, but to my taste overcooked. Maria did offer to bring me a serving less cooked, but I had eaten enough and didn't I say it was flavourful?
I also had a nice glass of dry red wine. It was a pro- something or other. Must track down what that was.
We'd come back with a group or with family, and maybe discuss with the waiter (hopefully Maria) the food choices...
