A friend and me booked a room in this hostel for 31 December because the price was lower than at many other places. Now we know why. We went there and as we entered the door, there was one man standing at the end of the corridor - and nothing else happened after seconds. He just looked at us. After a while he talked to us in another language, but didn't walk into our direction - we could read from his hands that we should come in and have a seat. So we did. He sat close to us but didn't talk anymore, he was busy with his phone. We didn't have any other info. So we kept sitting there and waited. What we could see were the corridor and the kitchen, both is set up very simple - witch doesn't matter us. We waited about an hour and during that time, the guy from our start went knocking on another room and two guys - who were obviously sleeping until then and just got up - left the room. When after an hour the owner - Sofia, as I remember - finally entered the appartment, we recognized, that the room, where these guys were sleeping in, was her office and these guys were meant to work there. When we told her that we had a reservation she said that it's not possible and looked it up. In the end we waited there one hour until she arrived just to hear her saying that there is no room left and that it was the fault of booking.com. We told her that it was New Years Eve and very hard to find another room and that it should also be her responsibility to either contact booking.com - if it's their fault - or help us finding another room. She was pretty impolite and didn't feel responsible at all. Her appearance made us guess that she was out the night before and it seemed at that time our booking was entering - and she just didn't get it because she was not there or it was her fault because she missed locking the availability at booking.com on time. We ended up paying 240 Euros for another room - which was the cheapest and still free that night in Belgrad, because everything else meanwhile was...
Read moreBeware of this place! I've been to dozens of hostels during last years, but I've never experienced something like this. First look at rooms was enough to decide to find another place, but the host declared that we will lose our money. I regret, that we didn't leave that place anyway, as I am still ill after two nights at the apartment. Fortunately, the host let my friends with small child to change the room, as her health would be at risk. Exposed electrical wires was not the only attraction of the premises. We were welcomed with terrible stench of must - the bathroom (which was the kitchen at the same time) was covered with fungus! Some parts of it were hidden by the layer of fresh paint, but it didn't help much... What is more - the floor hadn't been cleaned for weeks and we got dirty towels and bedding. I am really not a stickler for cleanliness, but I was afraid to sleep directly on my bed, so I had to use my beach towel as an insulating layer! My roommate started to choke because of poor air quality and she had to move to another room in the middle of the night.
I cannot understand, how is it possible to lead your hostel to such a condition. I am afraid, that the host, who was quite nice and helpful person, has some problems with hygiene - she just can't recognize, that what she's doing is unproper. If so, she needs to hire another person, who will take care of cleanliness. Anyway the hostel needs refubrishment and general renovation. I don't know Serbian law, but in my country rooms in such state will not be allowed...
Read moreFirst of all I have to make myself clear to any potential reader, I am not a bad reviewer, most of my reviews are good. |The story goes like this.. Made a reservation via booking.com for the hostel due to the low price ( 20eur for 4 days plus 1.15 city tax per person per day). |When we arrived there we enter a place that I would describe as dirty... My friends started laughing and telling me what we were doing there and that we should leave before anyone comes. I persuaded them to stay and at least see the room, pay the money which were not much anyway and then leave. Eventually a lady showed up and before showing us the room she told us to pay an amount over 3 times the price posted on booking.com with the excuse that the confirmation emal i had was wrong(!!) and she asked how i could possibly believe that i could stay there in such a low price. Then she told us quite impolite if we wanted to stay with the price she said if not we should leave. Our decision was the easiest ever and we left instantly only to find a lovely hostel just 5 minutes later down the steet. |All in all, after the communication I had with booking.com the lady was not only clearly trying to cheat us but she did it in a rude and obvious way, the most inappropriate for someone who makes a living from a hospitality service. A total disgrace to the Serbian hoteliers and avoid it at all costs if you are not...
