If you look for this word in the dictionary, you'll find out that this place has beautiful name - 'Spring' (p.a. as the time of the year). It exists for decades, maybe century and more, but I'm not completely sure. This place is well-known as place where people used to come not only to have a drink, but for conversation, changing opinions between their selves. Writers, journalists, professors etc, bakers, hair cutters, traders, all kind of workers... To be shorted, guests were from all parts of society. Today is different, but now it's place within two levels. Ground level is mixed, history and today's are meeting here. Downstairs is another one bar. It gives us intimate atmosphere. You won't make mistake going there with your friends, or with your sweetheart. Mostly, guests are drinking beer. It's also great place to have your first mourning coffee, read newspapers. Garden is great- it provides good view...literally, it's all four sides of the Earth view. 'Spring' is great located. See that map, pls. Prices are average, as it's not in the heart of Belgrade.

  • interesting fact - 'Spring' is not origin name. In the past, there were a few completely different names. But, whatever is written on the entrance, atmosphere and place's soul...

Went here after a few years. They have redone interior and it is now a bit more modern. What I loved is that they kept the retro vibe if the place. The staff is still woth majority of old-school experienced waiters and Chefs. What I must bring up unfortunately is the portion size in comparison to it's price. The mushrooms dish( market value not more than 280rsd was priced 780rsd), I kept waiting for the fries fries which were frozen and deep fried not fresh and less than 200gr was priced 600rsd( market value per kg is less). Meat dish was more nutritional and bigger. So if you are a vegetarian/vegan this place will rip you off and you will remain hungry. If you have no dietary differences you will find great food without being ripped off. Unfortunately they didn't have anything else vegetarian/vegan on the menu even though there are at least 10 more dishes proposed. Rakija is exquisite and recommended. The service was although nice too slow. Ended up waiting for a check and being forgotten multiple times. I have mixed feelings should I recommend it or not. Definitely not for vegetarians/vegans. But other yeah it is in the heart of old town so the...

It is the worst place to visit if you are a civilized person. The waiting staff was just looking at us at the line and saying nothing. I asked them, whether they have a table knowing they don't at the time, but just to inform them that " Hey, we're waiting, keep us in mind for the next table, being the first in line" in the mean time 3 couples sat before us. Two l, were just passing by and went in, stayed for 5 minutes and just sat as soon as a table left. The other couple were behind us, who came 10 minutes after us and a table behind us left, and they swooped... the staff just gave them menus and didn't say a thing to us. We decided... okay... be pushy like them. A few minutes later, one table left, and we sat before they even cleaned it just like everyone else before us did... the staff then decided to speak to us and said, "Ohh no, no, this one is reserved."... we just stood and left... I will never ever go there... just not for people who have any sense of right and wrong and have lived in the...

Delicious food but two important issues made the whole meal feel a bit less enjoyable. Though almost all the photos found here show the rolled veal schnitzel with the very hard name come with baked potato wedges, our plates came with fries that were likely frozen. That is a huge difference in quality right there. If we were unlucky and they ran out of actual wedges that is sad but it would be better to inform us. If the whole baked real potato as a side situation is now reserved for frozen fries then it is even worse. Sides really matter in a somewhat upscale restaurant like this, and baked wedges would be a million times better with rather oily dishes like this. Prices are also quite expensive, which increases one’s expectations a bit too much. We paid 1400 RSD per person for a schnitzel, some fries, and a local beer, and we have been around for long enough to know that this amount of cash can even feed two in rather decent Serbian spots around the city, sometimes with better food.

A typical tavern from the time of socialism, that is, communism and Tito, nothing has changed there, identical uniforms of waiters, walls, everything is intact, when you enter, you are right in Yugoslavia. It's not the cheapest but they have a huge selection of delicious food, amazing for typical Serbian pubs but they have a good vegetarian menu. they don't call it vegetarian, because it's some typical Balkan dishes without meat, study carefully. I love to eat pumpkin moussaka there, without meat, beautiful dish. I read in some previous reviews that the service is slow and that the waiters are unfriendly, but to me that is precisely the charm of a typical socialist tavern from the time of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. By the way, the tavern is located in the part of the city called "Toplicin venac", a beautiful part that has remained original, unspoiled by modernized architecture.
