GRAN Hostel — Hotel in Banská Bystrica

OVER-RATED, YOU CAN FIND A WAY BETTER ONE.

Very flat welcoming vibes from the host. The overall cleaning of the place as soon as we have arrived were very poor. Messy kitchen, sticky floor everywhere, dusty and hair everywhere in the toilets.

Our beds were also full of hair and in the bedroom carpet got very wet for a no-functioning-well radiator.

There are 2 Wc available for over 10 people which is fine, but one of them didn't flush and many times you were finding other people's "surprises".

Race the whole floor to get a hot shower since the very old boiler has limited hot water.

The hostel it's accessible to anyone during daytime since the hostel shares the gate with the pharmacy downstairs. We were not feeling safe at all, better lock your room at night time too.

Noisy roads from people and cars. The hostel os located in front of a pub and close to the town's church that rings for 5 minutes long every 30 minutes during the day from 8.30am

We stayed here for one night in July as we were passing through Banska Bystrica . To be honest we didn't think Banska would have much to offer which is why we only booked for one night. How wrong we were. This little gem of a hostel is tucked away inside a courtyard, but it's still located right in the centre of the town. The rooms are clean, tidy and spacious, as were the bathrooms. There are LOADS of communal spaces to chill out, read, chat or play music. We would strongly recommend a visit to the Gaia teahouse which is opposite. |The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. If we didn't have such a packed itinery we would've stayed an extra night as there is so much to see and do in Banska. Would highly...
