This is without doubt the worst room I have ever stayed in, but at least it wasn’t something I’d booked, as it was arranged by the organisers of a disappointing Heritage Tour of the Czech Republic. As the accommodation for the first two nights of the tour, it set such a low benchmark that every other hotel (however ordinary they were) seemed to be an improvement. ||Negatives:||The squeaky, loose timber-slatted beds creaked with every move and the 100mm mattress was flat and very uncomfortable. The “pillow” was exactly the same thin-ness (as to refer to it as “thickness” would be an undeserved compliment) as the bed covering, so it didn’t provide any softness, support or comfort even when rolled into triple layers.||Access is by a very steep staircase with 45 steps, making it a struggle to bring up your bags as there is no lift. The reception desk wasn’t ever attended during my two-night stay, except when the tour guide brought us to check in.||There was no ventilation except for a small dormer window, which we had to close from midnight to 2.30am as the plaza outside was populated by a large, noisy group of drinkers. So the room was hot and stuffy.||Positives:||I later found out this is a one-star guesthouse (not what I anticipated on a Czech-agency tour) and I guess that in that context it is just passable. The room was clean and had basic furniture plus a TV and bedside lights, and although poorly laid out the bathroom had a full-size shower. We could connect to the internet, but only outside the room in the entry hallway. The hotel was in a fairly central location.||But I wouldn’t...
Read moreThis is the best you can get for this price in the city centre. Perfect location, private fenced parking, basic but cosy rooms with wooden beams, very clean, nice view on the historical centre, comfy beds (no doubles, just two joined single beds), extremely lovely reception lady. A kettle and cups are available in the lobby. The walls ar rather thin, therefore you can sometimes hear other guests a bit, but we didn't mind as it wasn't disturbing. All good restaurants and bars are within a 5-minute walking distance. The pension is situated on two upper floors of a historical building, therefore be prepared for a lot of stairs (no lift, no disability-friendly access). We stayed here several times and were...
Read more😊: Great location right off the lovely big square and across from the gallery, walking distance to all the nice cafes and restaurants. The owner went out of her way to accommodate my requests.. 😢: This is not a criticism, but this place is not for less mobile visitors as you need to climb several flights of stairs, so please be mindful of that. It's great if you want to keep fit! It's an old house full of character, so it is...
