I am returning guest of this small, well located hotel since 2009, every year once or more a year. The holtel is privately owned by one of the best vine makers of Slovakia and its name comes from him. It has a great selection of their vine for local consuming and for sale as well. The location is convenient for guest arriving by car from Hungary or Austria ( closed parking is in the backyard) moreover it is a short walking distance from the Main Railway station . The city center is conveniently achievable by a 10 minutes walk or by car. The rooms located at 4 floors are cosy, made with taste and impeccably clean. The elevator, aircon, heating, minibar, trezor are all functioning just fine. There is a spacious restaurant below at the ground floor offering game, pork, weal, poultry based meals with taste in nice portions for hotel guests or visitors from the street . Unfortunatelly, the restaurant is currently closed and serves only the breakfasts for the hotel guests till next year. The staff is very friendly they speak English, too. There are some minor issues the management could make some improvement of: the hotel area is a bit overheated, the restaurant and the corridors are too warm being ca. 25 deg C . I took one star off because of the quality of the caffe served during the breakfast. It cries out for a better...
Read moreA reasonably priced and very clean and quiet old-school hotel located about 15 minutes by foot from Old Town Bratislava. While the area near the hotel looks a bit deserted, it's actually a pretty nice walk to Old Town, and on the way you'll pass by the presidential palace and accompanying gardens. It's also convenient to several local bus lines and one of the two train stations in Bratislava. The breakfast buffet in the basement is excellent, and there's an upscale restaurant attached, though I didn't eat dinner there. ||I want to make note of the fact that if you're coming by train from the west, that is to say, Vienna, it's going to drop you off at the south train station (Petržalka) across the Danube and about four miles from the hotel. This hotel is a short walk from the north train station (Hlavna) which serves points east. So, if you disembark at the south train station as I did, you'll have a long walk or else will have to take some other form of transportation to get to the hotel. ||I stayed for five nights, and I slept well. If I return to Bratislava, I will definitely...
Read moreWe've had a four course coupon dinner, from Zlavadna.sk & it was last minute. We arrived max. 30 minutes after buying the coupon online. Obviously we've checked by phone if they have a table for two. They were almost empty though.
The service was excellent and friendly. No faces were made like we've seen at some other places where they sell coupon/discounted meals online & when you arrive they treat you as if you were a cheap looser.
We were really satisfied & the food was truly gourmet level! Matysak wines are some of the best in Slovakia and the kitchen in this hotel/restaurant doesn't lag behind the wine level. Great atmosphere & quick service too. Quiet, not too busy for a Saturday...
