One of the best Central to Southern Vietnamese Food places that we have been to outside of Vietnam. I stress Central to Southern. So the Beef Pho comes in with basil and beansprouts and more spices than the Pho from Hanoi and other Northern parts.
We discovered this place by chance on the bus to our accommodation. First impression of the place was not so great due to the small space and outdoor seatings next to a busy main road. But we were pleasantly surprised and comforted by the lovely flavors of the Pho Bo. We are all from Hanoi but the Southern Pho made us equally happy. So during our 5 days stay, we dined in Bambus Bistro 4 times.
We tried the Fish Patty Rice Noodle Soup that one review claimed it to be some kind of Pho with pineaple, tomatoes and dill. But this is far from Pho. Vietnamese cuisine has such a variety of thick and thin rice noodle soups with many different broths and fillings. The Fish Patty Rice Noodle Soup is such one of them with very unique seafood flavor. And seefood often comes with pineapples, alot of spring onions and the cannot be missed 'dill'. And here at Bambus Bistro, the Fish Patty Rice Noodle Soup is our favorites. My husband and I, we ordered at least one of this bowl for each of our visit.
We also ordered the Grilled Meat Rice Noodle Salad. The taste is very nice with a lot of Vietnamese herbs but there is a lot of sauce. Would have been nicer if the sauce is served separately.
Our parents tried the rice with duck and tofu with vegetables. There was a lot of meat, vegetables and tofu added to each portion of rice. They really do not go stingy with their ingredients 😍. The only downside for us is that they add a lot of sweet sauce, which is more typical the further South you go according to Vietnamese cuisine.
Bambus Bistro offered so many choices that can really confuse customers. So it's better to categorize your preferences such as meat based, seafood based, vegetarian based, dry or broth or with sauce, rice or rice noodle (thick or thin) or wheat noodle or glass noodle. Once you know your preferences, maybe you can ask the staff for some recommendations.
Lastly, the service was good. In one of our visits, the place was very busy and we had to wait for like 20 minutes but the staff was attentive and excused for the wait.
Prices are really very reasonable for the great quality of food and the huge portion given. If you like lovely comfort food and likes to enjoy good food, this is definitely the place for you.
We rate atmostphere 4 because it is not a criterion for us given the great food and the good...
Read moreBambus Bistro is a delightful family restaurant. It's a place that immediately feels like home, with its self-service style that adds a personal touch to the dining experience.
As I ordered, I appreciated the simplicity and efficiency of the process, which allowed me more time to savor the anticipation of the meal to come. And what a meal it was! Each plate was a generous homage to Vietnamese culinary traditions, brimming with flavors that spoke of authenticity and a passion for food.
The portions were hearty, ensuring that I left with both my appetite and heart fully satisfied. The quality of the food was exceptional, with fresh ingredients that could be tasted in every bite. It's clear that Bambus Bistro doesn't just serve food; they serve a piece of their family's heritage with every dish.
In a world where dining out can sometimes feel impersonal, Bambus Bistro stands out as a heartwarming reminder of the joy that good food and good company can bring. It's a must-visit spot for anyone in Bratislava looking for a meal that's made with care and...
Read moreWe went here twice, our Slavakian friend recommended this place and took us here for lunch the first day to try the soup dish.
It was really good quality food at a good price. Looks like it is a family run business and they take pride in the food they serve.
We went back the next day for dinner, tried the chilli beef dish No 12, the less spicy beef dish No 18 and the spring roll dish No 17. They were all good.
The only reason we didn't go back is because we wanted to try different places to eat.
The only negiatvie point about this place is it is very small but also very popular so it means the seating arrangement can be difficult sometimes, otherwise it would...
