Stayed in a twin room with a friend. We had an en-suite but unfortunately the whole experience was quite unpleasant. The beds were dirty with marks on, the shower was cold and didn’t have a shower holder/stand part so you couldn’t actually stand under it - you had to hold it. The shower was cold and did not have any power at all. The blinds were broken and the walls were thin so you could hear the surrounding rooms very easily. I know that it’s a hostel and not a hotel but I would have appreciated warm water at least! The staff were friendly and kind - and I thank them for being so welcoming - but they couldn’t recommend anywhere for us to go in the rain... Nonetheless, that might just be because there isn’t a lot to do here (and I don’t mean that disrespectfully). Read moreEvery year we go on an group vacation with 30-40 person from a student association. This year we we went to Bratislava and stayed in several rooms at the Brickyard Hostel. I think this is one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed at, rooms were cleaned multiple times during the week and the common areas were cleaned even more often. The staff was very friendly, rooms were spacious and the kitchen is exactly equipped enough to cook most kind of meals. There were enough keys for all persons in the room, which is always a plus if you’re with a big group that splits up a lot. Bratislava train station is a couple of minutes away and the Old Town is a nice walking distance as well (or you can take a bus or tram at one of the stops next to the hostel).
