Pension PORTUS — Hotel in Bratislava

Decent hotel at excellent location

Right at the entrance to the old town, and located near the main traffic area for easy connection. Fairly cheaply priced for a good location.

The place is clean and wi-fi worked well most times. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Not so positive

It's located in the old building so it comes with its own problems because of that.

There is a reason why ventilator was placed inside the room. It gets hot during the summer, even when windows are open. Opening and closing windows is a challenge on its own, I had to use some force for that. The fan is very loud and not that powerful to make much difference when it's working.

During the night I had to have windows open at all times, it helped a little bit. The concern was that the noise from the street would keep me from going to sleep, but it didn't. The street is located near the US embassy, hence why the traffic is partially closed. So I didn't hear much during the night, except for the garbage truck.

Check-in process was confusing, since I had to go to another building close by, make sure to read that email message from hotel with exact details!

Within the building itself the noise insulation wasn't that great, I could hear my neighbors coming in and out, at the same time, I didn't hear anything else, maybe they were...

…se si è a conoscenza di alcune cose e non si è pretenziosi. La posizione è proprio vicino al centro storico di Bratislava e ad uno dei due mercati di Natale.||Camere spartane, pavimento in parquet, ma ampie così come il bagno, nuovo e con box doccia di dimensioni generose. Non c’è il bidet. Gli asciugamani sono di ottima spugna e non finti come in alcuni hotel. Il wifi è presente in tutta la struttura ed è molto potente.||Di venerdì sera si sente chiaramente, nonostante le doppie finestre, il ritmo di una musica proveniente da un locale nei pressi.||Le scale per salire al primo piano non sono agevoli per la ripidità per persone anziane e sicuramente impraticabili per portatori di handicap.||La pensione si raggiunge prendendo il bus 61 dall’aeroporto fino al capolinea. Poi il bus 93 avendo l’accortezza di scendere alla fermata di Novy Most (Ponte Nuovo) quella immediatamente prima di attraversare il Danubio: da lì sono 5 minuti a piedi. I ticket per gli autobus vanno acquistati alle macchinette automatiche presenti in tutte le fermate: munirsi di soldi spicci (70 centesimi) perché, a parte le emettitrici all’aeroporto, sono i soli accettati.||Sotto Novy Most, quindi non quella in cui si scende arrivando ma proprio sotto il ponte, c’è anche la ||fermata (si chiama esattamente Bratislava Most SNP) della linea di bus Flixbus, nuovissimi con prese per ricaricare il cellulare e wifi a bordo, che con 15 euro a/r in un’ora vi lasciano al centro di Vienna (fermata Vienna Erdberg). Da qui, con la metro Linea U3, direzione Ottakring, si raggiunge Stephanplatz dove è il Duomo di Santo Stefano.||Un’ultima cosa di cui si deve essere a conoscenza è che il ristorante di questa pensione è chiuso il sabato e la domenica per cui lasciare, per poi tornare a riprenderli, i bagagli nella struttura, vista la mancanza di personale che li restituisca, può essere un problema. Nel nostro caso, la proprietaria gentilmente è venuta ad aprirci la pensione per farceli recuperare.||Non assegno il massimo della valutazione perché, prima della prenotazione, ho provato varie volte a contattare via mail i gestori per avere un preventivo di soggiorno con prima colazione senza avere risposta per cui ho dovuto prenotare tramite il noto sito pagando una cifra esorbitante e inadeguata sia al valore della Penzion Portus sia al costo medio della vita in Slovacchia e senza prima...

It is ideally located in the centre of the old city of Bratislava, very close to the river Danube. With it being located in the old city using public transport to get to it is difficult, as pulling suit cases across cobbled streets was hard.||The building the Penzion is in is very old, so it has those old quirks that come with this, narrow staircases, squeaky floorboards, odd shaped rooms.||We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, was a good size for four adults. The bathroom was a bit small but it met our needs. ||With is being an old building the owner is having trouble convincing the city to let him install AC in the rooms.||The breakfast is al carte style, just ask and if they have it in the kitchen they will make it for you.
