PATRIOT — Hotel in Trnava

Probably one of the best complete meals that I’ve had! I wanted a good restaurant in Trnava that I could walk to from the Holiday Inn. Trip advisor said this was a great restaurant and was only .2 km from the hotel. It didn’t disappoint! Patriot is a small cafe looking place on a corner about 2 city blocks from the hotel. Our server spoke enough English that communication was not a struggle. The even had an English menu for us “non-locals.” My party ordered the Foie Gras for an appetizer along with the house suggested red wine. The four gras had a light sauce, sweet cooked onions, and bread. It was soft and very tasty. Both of us ordered the Pork Tenderloin and shared sides of roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables, and Cesaer Salad. The potatoes were roasted to perfection. Crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. The grilled vegetables included mushrooms, peppers, onions, eggplant, and zucchini - all in a light sauce. They were the perfect accompaniment to the pork. The salad was good / not overly dressed, with fresh shaved Parmesan and crispy croutons. The pork was stuffed with prunes and wrapped in English bacon, served with the most delicious red wine gravy (on the side). The flavor combination made your mouth sing. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak excellent English. ||||My room (#1) was a large double with shower and was excellent. The location is also good with free parking across the street in the hotel's own private car park, which was locked at night.||||I had bed and breakfast, The breakfast was very good except for one very minor issue - there was not a wide choice of cooked options: three choices with eggs - ham & eggs/bacon & eggs/scrambled eggs with onion. The other cooked option was Frankfurters with mustard. If you are staying a couple of days then eggs is not an issue but after a week I would have prepared another option without eggs.||||I also had lunch one day and that was also excellent. I personally reserved a table for two for a specific hour a week in advance. When booking, I requested a table at the back of the restaurant and was assured that this was possible. After arriving at the restaurant, we were offered a table in the front part. When I argued that I had reserved a table in the back, they told me that it is possible to reserve a table in the restaurant, but not for a specific hour (!). When we asked when the couples who were supposed to sit at the free six-seater table would arrive, we received the answer that they would arrive gradually at a specific time. What actually convinced the waiter himself of the lie. In the end, they settled us, saying that we had to make it before the arrival of the next couple.
