Mediocre overpriced food. The beef tenderloin was gummy stringy and of low quality. Everything was under salted. The saffron risotto with duck breast on the other hand was superb. The most outrageous thing happened when the french fries came with out a sauce. We asked for mayonnaise and they brought a huge bowl of what suspiciously tested like industrial sandwich spread. They charged us 3.90 euro for that (see image). This experience was the complete opposite of all our other visits to Slovak restaurants, where generousness was always felt.

In einem stillen Winkel der Altstadt verbirgt sich dieses Restaurant, das mit seinem schönen Design, tollen Innenleben und großzügigen Räumlichkeiten bezaubert. Die Speisenauswahl ist sehr vielfältig. Die Gerichte waren teils frisch zubereitet, warm serviert und sehr ansprechend präsentiert. Entgegen der Empfehlung des Eigentümers enttäuschte die pikante Rinderfiletpfanne mit roten Zwiebeln, Speck, Chili und Reis (Pikantná panvička: rezančeky z hovädzej sviečkovice s červenou cibuľkou, slaninou, čili a ryžou) meine Erwartungen. Leider war mein Reis nicht frisch zubereitet, sondern schien aufgewärmt und etwas älter zu sein, und mit Öl zubereitet, was sich in einem sehr unangenehmen Geschmack niederschlug. Ebenso erfüllte die Qualität des Fleisches nicht die Hoffnungen. Die Würzung der Speisen bietet Raum für Verbesserungen. Im Gegensatz dazu erwiesen sich die gegrillten Rippchen und Hähnchenflügel als kulinarisches Highlight. Die Portionsgrößen waren überaus großzügig bemessen. Wohingegen die Bierauswahl etwas zu wünschen übrig ließ. Besonders die Wartezeit auf den Kuchen mit Geburtstagskerze war unerwartet lang. Das Servicepersonal zeigte sich durchweg freundlich und der Service war sowohl gut als auch professionell. Positiv anzumerken sind auch die Englisch-, Französisch- und Deutschkenntnisse der Mitarbeiter. Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt. Ein Dankeschön. Die Preise sind gehoben. (Dezember 2023)

Forhaus sits in Trnava old town overlooking the Basilica of St. Nicholas. A beautiful location in itself, but the food and service at Forhaus are perfect. I was given this restaurant as a recommendation along with suggesting I have the traditional Slovakian dish, Bryndzové Halušky. Couldn’t resist their Duck Pâté as well though. And I have to say, the food, atmosphere and service was perfect and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Trnava!

This year was my first discovering this gem of a restaurant in my moms home town of Trnava. After going to various other restaurants around the city for several years, it quickly was obvious that Forhaus was a cut above the others and operates to a higher standard. The daily menu offers a big selection of main courses, which other restaurants don't, but most impressive is the fact that they don't treat their daily menu offerings like other places do... what I mean is that they put just as much care into their daily menu deal items as they do into their a la carte items, which cost much more. This really was a sign of how much they care about their clients and reputation. I can't think of a single dish I had here which wasn't amazing- everything was done brilliantly, to a very high standard which could keep up with high end restaurants in major North American or Western European cities. The staff were all extremely friendly and the aesthetic of the restaurant is excellent. I can't wait to...

The food was great!! We ordered pasta with chicken and the shared meat plate for two. Compliments to the chef!

BUT the service was really disappointing! The waitress didn't speak english at all... No Hi, you're welcome or even bye... We've felt very ignored... The staff ate next to us. We don't have a problem if they have a break, but they should use a staff room... I really didn't like to watch them eating while we were waiting for our food. The waitress brought a dirty plate and we had to ask another waiter for a new one, but he brought it immediately and spoke english!

Very good food, quick and nice waitress, personal approach and even chef coming to our table to choose particular meat for steak. As of the meat, I expected something more matured, when it was advertised as so, presentation, cooking style with a hint of grill smoke and steak were together 8,5/10, I definitelly recommend T-bone. Final steak product was little rough to be medium rare, not as soft as expected with that amount of maturation, flavour and smell were superb. Also presentation.
