Blue waves Lodge — Hotel in KwaZulu-Natal

Blue Waves Lodge is situated in the quiet suburbs of Umhlanga. The lodge itself boasts a swimming pool and outdoor seating area with a tent and chairs perfect for an evening braai. We stayed at the King Room which had a King size bed, bathroom and kitchenette. The room was very clean and had air conditioning and DSTV facilities along with a back-up light to use during load-shedding. Tea and coffee were available in the room with a fully functioning microwave, kettle, iron and mini refrigerator. However, there is no ironing board available so we had to use the couch to iron our clothes. The kitchenette does not have any spoons, knives, forks or plates. There are just 2 glass tumblers and 2 mugs with saucers. There is also no soap in the kitchen area. The bathroom is very small and I believe the shower head needs to be upgraded as the water pours out very slowly. The bathtub is a standard single person bathtub and shower combination. Furthermore, the bidet in the bathroom does not work. However, the staff were very friendly and accommodating which made up for the lacks in the rooms. The atmosphere is very quiet and serene so it is very private and romantic if you want to enjoy a chilled time...

Highly disappointed with this place. False advertising and lack of showers☹️.

I booked through booking.com and the room pictures clearly show both a shower and bath tub. It turns out renovations were done to the room and the shower was removed and the booking.com pictures were not updated. The staff offered another room with a shower for the night but this was far inferior since it was smaller, dirtier, lack of windows/circulation and claustrophobic.

Had I known, I wouldn't have booked the place. This was a massive inconvenience, stressful and had to find other accommodation at 20:00 at additional cost to me

Clean place. Though we never got what we booked, when my husband and I got there we were told they changed our room. The room we got had no view of the ocean and small compared to what we were expecting. It's a bed and breakfast but they could not serve us because there weren't enough guests who requested the service so we had to make a plan. Then the lady who checked us in asked if I wore makeup and I should be careful not to stain the pillows because they are very expensive and we will have to pay if we mess them.
