Umhlanga Beach is a beautiful coastal destination located in the suburb of Umhlanga in Durban, South Africa. It is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, known for its stunning sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque surroundings.

One of the main attractions of Umhlanga Beach is its natural beauty. The beach features soft golden sand, ideal for sunbathing or taking leisurely walks along the shoreline. The waters are generally calm, making it suitable for swimming and other water activities. The beach offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, especially during sunrise and sunset, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere.

Umhlanga Beach is well-maintained and offers various amenities for visitors. It has clean public restrooms, designated swimming areas, and lifeguards on duty to ensure the safety of beachgoers. There are also shaded areas and picnic spots, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the beach in comfort.

The beach is conveniently located near a range of hotels, restaurants, and shops, making it easily accessible for visitors. The nearby promenade offers a pleasant walking path with stunning ocean views, as well as access to a variety of dining options and entertainment venues.

One aspect that visitors appreciate about Umhlanga Beach is its family-friendly atmosphere. It is a great destination for families, offering safe swimming conditions and ample space for children to play. The beach also hosts various events and festivals throughout the year, adding to the vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere.

However, it’s important to note that Umhlanga Beach can get crowded, especially during peak holiday seasons or weekends. This may result in limited parking availability and crowded areas on the beach. It’s advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot and make the most of your visit.

Overall, Umhlanga Beach is a picturesque and inviting destination with its beautiful coastline, calm waters, and convenient amenities. Whether you’re looking to relax, enjoy water activities, or simply soak up the sun, Umhlanga Beach offers a delightful...

We visited the beach during Comrades Marathon weekend, and it was the perfect way to unwind before and after all the excitement. I went for a peaceful morning run along the shore, and it was honestly one of the highlights of my trip. The beach was clean and well-kept. Just loved the sound of waves and cool breeze to keep you company. You could tell the area is well-maintained, with no litter in sight and clear pathways for joggers and walkers. It’s such a refreshing space to breathe, reflect, and recharge. Whether you're a runner, a supporter, or just visiting for the weekend, this beach is a must-visit. The views are stunning, and the overall atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Definitely a favourite...

The food was delicious even although it was cold … rooftop space was giving us the vibe ,beautiful space to breath but the service was bad.The waiter had to take her own time to bring the food to us and check up on us ,she didn’t even care she gave us an attitude on the table although we understand that she’s pregnant but the service was too bad.We kept ordering then we asked her about the bottle service she said it’s a must then we had to leave because we didn’t have the money to buy the bottles that she asked us to buy after that she didn’t come back to the table and then we paid our bill to another waiter. All we wanted was a beautiful space and food since we’re...

Such a beautiful walk along the promenade. Many places to stop and enjoy a drink or meal. Well kept gardens and everything very clean. Flagged area for swimming with life guards on duty. The locals are very pleasant with lots of ‘good morning’ greetings. Felt safe the whole time. The beach is spectacular and the famous Whalebone Pier just beautiful. At the end of the direction away from the lighthouse is the very pretty Forest Cafe. There is a Parkrun held here each Saturday which is great for the good view but not for a PB - a bit crowded. Very dog friendly. Plenty of outdoor showers and toilet blocks.

Lovely, beautiful beaches and award-winning pier is a great place to go for a daily run, walk or to just chill out. Great aroma, from the coffee pop up shop on the promenade, is enough to tempt you to indulge in a cupper that is priced no different from other coffee places. Only criticism is that some person did not clean up after his/her dog relieved itself on the promenade on Sunday morning. Otherwise it is a safe place with the highly visible UIP staff along the promenade. Beaches have lifeguards on duty

Umhlanga Beach is a true gem! The soft golden sand and clear waters make it perfect for relaxing or taking long walks. Unlike South Beach, Umhlanga is very safe, with lifeguards on duty and a family-friendly atmosphere, so you can enjoy your time without worry. The promenade is lively with cafes, restaurants, and shops, making it easy to grab a bite or enjoy local treats. The sunsets are breathtaking and create the perfect backdrop for photos or peaceful moments. A visit to Umhlanga Beach is an absolute must!
