Baiton Seoul Dongdaemun Hotel — Hotel in Seoul

Stayed at Baiton Hotel in May 2017 for six nights in a double room while holidaying in Seoul with my husband.|| ||Positives:||||- Friendly and helpful staff. Their English wasn’t perfect, but they tried hard and we managed to get the help we needed with pointing, drawings and google translate.||- Room was clean and fresh with all the amenities we needed (not something you automatically expect in a 3 star hotel).||- The toilet was of the Japanese variety with lots of buttons.||- There are lots of local restaurants within walking distance. Just head towards the Dongdaemun Design Plaza and you’ll come across the restaurants in all of the alleys. A few had menus in English, most did not. The BBQ places were, however, extremely helpful even with limited English. Similarly, the hotel is within walking distance to the Dongdaemun food market and the metro station.|| ||Negatives:||||- The rooms are not particularly well sound-proofed. You will hear noises from the neighbours and the hallway.|| ||Other things to take note of:||||- The airport bus is relatively convenient as it literally stops right outside the hotel. However, it’s the last stop coming from the airport to the city and the trip, for us, took 1,5 hours with only us and one other passenger. If you’re in a hurry you might want to prefer taxing a taxi instead.||- Beware of the 7/11 supermarket across the street from the hotel. The young “gentleman” cashier ruthlessly tried to rip us off (first claimed that the credit card machine was out of order, so we had to pay in cash. Then added an extra 10 000 KRW to the bill and, in addition, gave the wrong change. He did refund us when confronted). Check your receipt and change very carefully!||- The hotel has a roof terrace which isn’t really advertised. It does, however, have chairs and a nice view of Seoul and you can take your own drinks along (no bar or service).||- Yes, the room is relatively small but still larger than hotel rooms I've stayed at in Japan. We just about managed to open our two large suitcases on the floor without climbing on top of each other. || ||Overall, Baiton Hotel surprised us positively. The hotel presents excellent value with a modern, clean room and bathroom and friendly staff at a relatively good location. Would recommend for those looking for a good...

Positive |- Good value, in a quiet neighborhood area. Nice to rest after a busy day at crowded tourist spots|- A GS25 convenient store available 2 min walk from hotel.|- Airport Bus 6001 stops right at the door of the hotel. It is also the 1st stop when returning to ICN airport. That means you are guaranteed with seats and luggage space.|- Easy to flag a taxi right outside hotel entrance.|- Bright and clean room with good city view. We stayed on the 14 floor facing main street. Excellent house keeping effort!|- Strong and stable aircon in a hot summer, with comfortable beddings and pillows. |- Luggage weighing machine available in lobby||Negative|- Not the best location in our opinion. Have to walk 20-30min to Dongdaemun Market/Nyu Nyu/Doota/Gwangjang Market/2 metro stations with different lines, and these places are too short a distance for taxi ride. Do prepare to walk a lot if you are staying here.|- Most of the gentlemen at the front desk were not helpful. They did their job adequately without smile, and you could tell some of them pretended they don't understand English so you will not disturb them further. |- Hotel do not book taxi or restaurant for guest. |- Hotel will recommend a street nearby for food if you enquire. But it stops there. You will need to checkout individual restaurant yourself.|- We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, although we used the public toilet to freshen up while waiting for check-in. Toilet condition was miserable, not the usual hotel standard. ||We use Google to checkout the restaurants ratings nearby. Had a few really authentic and good ones! Overall good price for a pleasant stay, if you don't need much service and don't mind to walk to the...
