Review of Ramada Namdaemun Hotel – A Horrible Experience
I rarely write reviews this harsh, but my stay at Ramada Namdaemun was truly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in all my travels. I chose this hotel because I used to work across the street, and I thought it would be convenient. Big mistake.
Let’s start with the condition of the facilities: everything is old, worn-out, and in desperate need of renovation. The furniture is falling apart, the bathrooms are outdated, the Wi-Fi is unreliable, and the amenities are practically non-functional. Towels felt more like sandpaper than fabric, the phones are old wired relics, and the overall atmosphere screams neglect. Don’t let the lower rates fool you—this isn’t “value,” it’s simply cheap quality. I even took photos to prove just how bad it really is.
But the real dealbreaker here is the horrendous service and unbelievably rude staff. One employee in particular, “Nate,” stood out for his arrogance and dismissiveness, but unfortunately, the female staff I interacted with were no better. When I extended my booking, I was told they “weren’t responsible” and I should call Expedia myself. On top of that, I was forced to check out at 11 a.m. and wait until 3 p.m. to check back into the same hotel. That level of indifference to guests is unacceptable.
When I asked simple questions—like recommendations on where to eat—the staff’s response was literally, “Look it up on Google.” And don’t expect any basic service: requests for water, towels, or necessities are flatly denied. It’s shocking that a hotel operating under the Ramada name would treat paying guests this way.
For context, I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world—luxury and budget alike—and I’ve never encountered such a combination of outdated facilities and appalling staff behavior. If these employees worked for me in sales, I’d fire them immediately without hesitation.
Bottom line: I will never stay here again and will actively warn others to avoid it. With similar pricing, you’ll get infinitely better service and comfort at hotels like VOCO or Fraser Place. I transferred from Courtyard Marriott to Ramada Namdaemun, and it was one of the biggest travel mistakes I’ve ever made.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. Ramada Namdaemun is a disgrace...
Read moreThe location what seemed close to all the main attractions turned into more of a pain point. Not a lot of buses and the train station takes forever to get to. Only plus is the 6001 airport bus stops right in front for the way home. However, ended up taking a lot of taxis…As for the facilities, it’s old and run down. We were made to move rooms 3 times. 1st time, the toilet was broken and was leaking water from the beginning. 2nd time, they couldn’t provide a partial refund to downgrade, so they upgraded us for the trouble however as the room wasn’t planned to be used that day, the heating would not turn on at all and we practically froze. After countless calls to front, it took over 8 hours to heat the room (4am)! It was meant to be a suite but apart from the size of it, I would not call it a suite at all. 3rd time, was the same as the 1st room, but all working except a mouldy smelling bathroom, dirty sheets and dim lighting. If you’re visiting for wholesale purposes in Dongdaemun or if you’re happy to just sleep there maybe you’d be fine but I was not comfortable at all and disappointed. The only positive thing is that the staff were very kind most of the time. One occasion though, I asked if they had luggage scales and they said no. To my surprise when I went to the lobby, there was one heavy duty scale for everyone to use.. Overall, I will not be...

It's right in the heart of Seoul, within walking distance of the vibrant Dongdaemun Design Plaza, shopping centers, and many local restaurants. This made exploring the city incredibly convenient.**Rooms The room I stayed in was spacious and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities provided were sufficient for a comfortable stay.
