WOW.....Such an amazing experience for a first time visit to Seoul, South Korea. This hotel is the Perfect place to stay for convenience. Steps away from Seoul Station and Hoehyang Station. Namdaemun is closer than you might think. Such an easy walk. We stayed here for 10 nights and 11 days ($625.00-USD) 8-30-17 to 9-10-17. All taxes included. Yes, the room was small but that didn't matter at all since we spent 9 to 12 hours exploring Seoul daily. The staff was amazing....not much for english speaking but again....Didn't matter. They were all very polite and respectful to us being from The United States. They all even bowed to us when ever we encountered them.
On our last morning at the hotel our safe was unexpectedly reset during the night and we couldn't get it open. We waved a maid over to our room and made a few hand gestures at the safe and she was on the phone immediately and within 2 minutes a staff member opened our safe. so awesome.
Very ingenious hotel security as well. Elevator only operates after your room key card is swiped and also card must be inserted into a slot near the hotel room door for electricity to be activated. Very smart and efficient. Impressive!!! Beds and pillows were more comfortable than the ones I have at home!!!
Cathy (YU) was amazing when I inquired about where to find a jar of vicks vapor rub. She took the time to look it up online print out a picture of the jar and wrote a hand written message in Hangul on the sheet of paper for me to give to a person at a pharmacy store down the street. I never did find any but totally not the point at all.
Great night time view of Seoul Station from the rooftop garden!
Starbucks across the street was our daily morning routine for coffee and delicious, organic breakfast sandwiches. Great local places to eat just around the corner, across the street. Places to eat are a stones throw away in any direction. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice, clean and safe place to stay in Seoul. I will so be back next year for a short stay here and explore the southern city of Busan!
I could go on and on about this hotel with more positive...
Read moreLocation is very good, making it very accessible to basically anywhere in Seoul via subway (Seoul Station or Hoehyun station) or bus. Loved the “Seoul Road” which is basically a walking bridge with nice greenery, although I didn’t get to see any green because my visit was in January, that is directly accessible from the 2nd floor lobby and will take you above the very busy intersection to Seoul station. We walked everywhere from the hotel-Namdaemun 5 min, Myeongdong 10 min, Namsan Seoul Tower 20 min, and even to Kyungbokgung and the nearby Bukchon Hanok Village and Insadong. Got many miles of walking a day and loved it. Of course you can take the bus to most of these places. The Hotel is near so many shops and restaurants! The hotel itself is fine: mid-size hotel with nice lounge serving coffee and drinks and a separate restaurant on lowest level. The rooms are also good with comfy enough beds and clean linens and towels. As others mentioned, the shower and water pressure is great. Probably two drawbacks I experienced is that the lighting is not that bright in the bathroom or the the room unless you are literally next to the lamps. Bright lights in the bathroom is helpful when getting ready for the day. Another thing that I noticed for those staying longer than a night is the lack of storage. No shelving or drawers in the bathroom to store toiletries and only one very large and deep drawer in the room and two very small and shallow drawers(like desk drawers) inside the closet. Three of us stayed a week in the “family”unit and had difficulty keeping our things easily organized. We would have loved to have more storage for our stuff but other than that and the lighting, I highly recommend this hotel- if anything, for its excellent location. I did not interact with the staff much so don’t have much to say- the morning/daytime service people seemed more friendly; the evening front desk workers just ignore you when you’re...
Read moreWorst check-in experience ever! This hotel is definitely over rated. I don't know how it become a 4 star hotel with such terrible service and room conditions. I didn't expect the front desk staff to be friendly, but they were extremely rude. I booked two twin rooms for my parents and my sister's family, who have two little kiddos, aged 2 and 4 years old. The twin room is supposed to sleep 2, but since there were no other options for bigger rooms, I booked two rooms hoping to add an additional sofa bed upon check-in. However, the room was too small to add a sofa bed, and this is where our troubles with the staff began.
We were told that we should have called before booking to check if we could accommodate kids. I explained that I booked from the U.S. and couldn't call, and she said she could even reject our check-in since we broke their policy. Very "generously," she told us that only the 2-year-old was allowed, while the 4-year-old was considered an "ADULT," so we needed to book an additional room. We asked if we could pay extra to upgrade to a larger room. She apparently had extra rooms but said we were not eligible for an upgrade, so we had to book another room! Furthermore, she said we shouldn't have booked their rooms and should have sought other hotels and options.
We requested to speak with her manager, and she claimed there was no manager. When we asked for her name, she refused to tell us and urged us to cancel the booking with a full refund. We ended up canceling the booking and searching for an Airbnb. (I had paid a deposit to Expedia, which is non-refundable, so I think I might lose the...
