Hotel Skypark Myeongdong I — Hotel in Seoul

Location:

Excellent. Near exit 5,6 of the metro station. Less than 5mins walk. Night market, Olive young right below the hotel. Good for last min shopping. Convenient store jus ard the corner. Many food options.

Service of the staff:

Excellent. So very helpful and nice. Friendly and obliging. You can leave ur luggage w them when ure too early for check in or upon check out. There’s a weighing machine at the lobby which is really helpful.

Room (double room):

Pro:

Good size bed. Clean bedding. Nice clean bathroom. There’s a bathtub, shower curtain which is great cos it means no wet floor when you shower. Good water pressure. Toilet bowl - you can flush toilet paper into the bowl. No issue. Individual aircon which you can control the temperature. It’s in Korean but you can always use google translate. Mineral water provided daily.

Cons:

Slipper is available but not the disposable kind (which I prefer).

Room is old there’s no denying that. Musty smell whenever I open the room door. Takes a while to get used to it everytime I come back from outside.

Mattress not v firm, feels old.

Room is really small and I’m surprised cos it’s bout 16m2? I have stayed in similar room size which felt way more spacious.

Furnitures are dated and so bulky. There’s this big old cabinet in the room which is taking up so much space that I think the management should consider removing. Yes it houses the fridge & safe but that can be placed under the dressing table. Tv can be mounted instead of placing on top of the cabinets. Hooks can be drilled to allow hanging of clothes.

No electrical outlet by the side of the bed. All the outlets are at the dressing table area.

Breakfast timing is 7-9am and the items are vvvv limited. I don’t think it’s value for money. Go outside for breakfast. It’s way better.

Conclusion:

Might stay again for the location, pleasant staff. Some refurbishing work really needs to be done for this hotel to make it more competitive. It will be a shame to lose customers cos of the poor use of space...

My wife and i stayed at this hotel for 14 nights in october 2022. We do recommend it to others, but there's also some things to be desired. The positives and negatives:

Great location. This hotel is only a 3 minutes walk from the subway station of Myeongdong with Line 4. You're also in the middle of the centre of Myeongdong. When you walk out the building you hit all the shops immediately. At night it really comes to life with all the streetfood sellers and neon lights Great and friendly people. The service is excellent. Each day your room is cleaned very well. Every day you get new towels The room has everything you need: a safe, fridge, tv (with usb connection so you can bring your own movies or tv-programmes on a stick) and water cooker There is wifi but it's not always stable when you want to watch for instance Netflix. There are two washing machines. Very handy to wash all your clothes before you go home

Breakfast is only served between 7:00 and 8:30 - 9.00 am. We skipped a few breakfasts so we could sleep a little bit longer There's not much variation in the breakfast. We really aren't picky but for two weeks we were presented with exactly the same: scrambled/hard boiled eggs, toast, mushroom soup, strawberry jam, cornflakes, coffee, thee, milk and orange juice. No variation in the soup nor the jam. They don't even have knives there to put butter on your bread properly the rooms aren't that big. There's not much closet space to hang up your clothes The site says there's also a lounge in this hotel. I haven't seen it

There you have it. I liked Skypark I but maybe next time I will reserve a room without breakfast. Because we will sure visit...

This is our 4th time in Seoul and our 1st time to stay in Hotel Skypark 1 Myeongdong. We highly recommend the hotel especially if you intend to shop, tour the city and just enjoy the street foods.

The lobby is at the 11th floor and we are glad to be readily welcomed by the staff of the hotel as we arrived and checked-in at around 1am already. Breakfast starts at 7:30am-10am at the 11F terrace area, serving a variety of food and different menu during the duration of our stay. Free shuttle bus service (by advanced reservation) is offered going to Seoul Station, Dongdaemun and Shilla Duty Free.

Rooms with 2 single beds is quite small but okay because we have a view of the Myeongdong shopping area.

The hotel is just a few steps away from the Airport Limousine Bus terminal, taxi and city bus stops and train stations.

There are nearby convenient stores, fast food stores, restaurants and street food stalls.

Myeongdong Cathedral is about 5-10 minutes away on foot. Daiso, Uniqlo, ABC Mart, Folder, H & M, Top Ten etc can be found in the Myeongdong shopping district.

Bus tour for Everland, Nami and Lotte World pick-up can be easily reached by walking (Myeongdong Station Exit 1, 3). The hotel also have a currency exchange machine located at the 11th floor/lobby.
