As I was traveling with a colleague who has not been to Seoul for almost 8 years and what better choice than to stay right in the hub of Myeongdong….the taxi dropped us off not at the drop off point but rather at the side road which meant we need some time to locate the entrance which is really rather difficult to spot.||However as the saying goes , first impression last and this otherwise would have been almost 5 stars ratings started off on a very bad note. I was checked in by a lady associate in a grey hoodie who did the check in and then mentioned that since breakfast is not included in the room rate , it would be KRW 25000 which I politely asked that I did check that as Elite member it is included which she then replied “oh I forgot to ask you which amenities you would want”. What was then rather annoying is that she gave me 1 token for a welcome drink and then I noticed my colleague who is checking next to me was given 2 tokens though we all are in a single room each. What was worst is the guest before me was given 4 tokens which I told her this is really not very right and her replies further worsen the situation that she added the guest stayed often and she knew him , does this mean if her friend is to come stay in the hotel he/she gets 10 tokens . Her actions totally disappointed me that I told her thank you but I don’t need the extra tokens despite being given one more. On top of that I told her I have decided to cut short my stay in the hotel and rather goes somewhere else even though this mean I need to check out and check in.||Anyway despite this bad start to the check in, all was very good at Moxy which is a brand I like within Marriott for the simplicity and functionality. The room though small is well organized and the fact that the housekeeping did a very excellent job every day. All crew at the hotel really tried their best except perhaps the lady I had encountered maybe I was too picky or that I wasn’t a regular in the hotel.||Breakfast choice though not extensive but I would say is good but not for the price of KRW 25000 and that the free self service laundry is another add on.||Of course if your budget permits the linked Le Meridien next door would have been better choice …||Given the experiences I had, I changed my remaining days to Le Meridien though at higher price but at least I think I get better service...
Read moreMoxy Restaurant/Bar left much to be desired during my recent visit. While the meat quality was passable, everything else about the experience fell significantly short of expectations, particularly for a place that services both the Moxy and the prestigious 5-star Le Meridien hotels.
First and foremost, the service was the weakest link. The staff seemed overworked and undermanned, leading to slow and inattentive service. During my visit, I noticed multiple tables waiting impatiently for service, which isn’t what you’d expect when visiting a place associated with a 5-star environment like Le Meridien.
The limited hours of operation compounded these service issues, making it incredibly inconvenient for guests. I found it perplexing that, considering its location, the establishment wouldn’t offer more flexibility to accommodate guests’ schedules. Whether you’re an early bird looking for breakfast or someone seeking a late-night bite, Moxy seems to be consistently inconvenient.
Another point of contention was the lack of dessert options. After an average meal, I was hoping to end on a sweet note, only to be told that desserts weren’t available. In a dual hotel-serving establishment, one would expect a full range of menu options, and desserts feel like an essential part that any decent restaurant should offer.
As for the ambiance, it reflected poorly on the Moxy brand. While I understand Moxy aims for a more casual, youthful vibe, this one seems to have misinterpreted that goal as an excuse for subpar standards. I shudder to think how this place aligns with the Moxy brand if this is the level they tolerate.
In summary, if you’re staying at Le Meridien or even at the Moxy itself, you might want to explore dining options elsewhere. With disappointing service, restrictive hours, and a lackluster menu, including no desserts, it’s challenging to find a reason to recommend Moxy Restaurant/Bar. Here’s hoping they can take guest feedback constructively and make the necessary...
Read moreI liked the vibe of this hotel very much but my husband was not impressed. We arrived after midnight for check in due to a flight delay and the front desk staff were very friendly and spoke English fluently. Our room included a ₩30000 credit for food per day and since it was late the added that credit to the next day. The lobby is located on the 4th floor (After getting off the elevators, in one direction is the lobby for the Moxy and the other direction is Le Meridian.) The Moxy lobby is trendy and attractive. You can get ice to bring back to your room in a cooler at the bar. There is also a place to buy snacks. We arrived to our room and it was larger than expected with a queen size bed and extremely clean. To make the room seem more spacious, there were two folding chairs and a folding table hung on the wall. That is where they lost my husband. He travels with a mobile office and he really felt like there was no place to set up his stuff. There was a small bed table but it was completely occupied by the water dispenser, coffee maker, small media control, and phone. There is also a small refrigerator on the wall. The bed had two huge pleather pillows in addition to two regular pillows on the bed. We called the front desk and asked for two more regular pillows which they brought to the room right away. I thought the bed was comfortable but my husband said the mattress felt worn. The bathroom is shower only (no tub) with a bidet toilet. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel but we did take advantage of the burger and steak specials which were both good, even though the salad was on the pathetic side. We also had the Welcome drinks which were good. All our interactions with the reception desk staff were fun. We did not end up using our food credit because it does not apply to food specials. The location of the hotel is great with close walking distance to shopping, restaurants and public...
