Skip This Place – Overhyped and Kinda Gross Tbh

I came here because of the glowing reviews and photo event (post a good review = get free food), but let me be real with you: this place is not it.

First, the service was a mess. We were one of the first to order, but the crab took around 20 minutes to come out. Staff were clearly overwhelmed—literally running around yelling at each other—and didn’t respond to the call button on the wall. You had to make intense eye contact and wave them down like you were stranded at sea.

The soy-marinated crab and shrimp were actually decent—sweet, rich, and flavorful—but that spicy crab? Hard no. Tasted like straight chili paste with no depth, and I noticed hardly anyone else ordered it, which makes sense now. We also had to ask for gloves, which should’ve just been at the table. It’s a hands-on dish—why make that harder?

Now, here’s where things get musty—literally. I watched them place a printed receipt directly on top of the raw crab. I don’t know if it’s just me being picky, but paper from a receipt printer on raw seafood? That felt wildly unhygienic. My appetite dropped a bit after that.

Also, maybe it’s just my body not agreeing with it, but I had a low-key allergic reaction—my throat and tongue got itchy while eating. Super uncomfortable and definitely not worth it. The egg dish came out burnt on the bottom, making it bitter. Soup was decent at first but way too salty once it cooled. Sides were fine. Rice portion? Tiny. Even someone like me, who doesn’t eat much rice, had to order a second bowl.

All in all, I won’t be coming back. Not just because the food wasn’t for me, but the whole vibe felt sloppy and unsanitary. If you’re curious about raw marinated crab, look elsewhere—this place feels like a tourist trap banking on trendy Instagram shots and...

Unfortunately, it was far from what I had hoped for. Upon arrival, the first restaurant was already full, instead of being greeted, we were bluntly told to leave and try the second location. The initial greeting downstairs at the second restaurant was polite

My friend, who was using a crutch due to an injury, was seated upstairs

When we reached our table, I overheard one of the waitstaff comment to a colleague, "Why would she walk up (stairs) if she has an injured leg?" The tone of the remark was neither concerned nor friendly, which was particularly disheartening because he was right next to us.. It's unprofessional, and frankly, impolite, to make comments about customers in their presence, especially when assuming they do not understand the language.

Additionally, there was some confusion during the ordering process. I requested grilled meat for one person and marinated crab for one, as indicated on the menu.

However, I was informed that ordering meat for one person was not allowed, despite this option being listed. When I asked for clarification, the staff seemed unsure. The meat eventually arrived, though it was bland and suspiciously a mix of different cuts, while the crab was fine

The overall service was lacking, with staff members pointing at us and showing little understanding of our requests. The uncomfortable atmosphere, coupled with the mediocre food, left me with the impression that this establishment does not prioritize customer satisfaction and is relying on their social media popularity. I expected just decent service and good food quality as I specifically came to Myeongdong to try the restaurant, and sadly, it was a disappointing unpleasant experience that I will remember for all the...

During my trip to South Korea, I had the pleasure of exploring Myeongdong, where I came across a hidden treasure: Odarijip Crab Restaurant. Drawn by its reputation for serving authentic Korean seafood, I decided to step in—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my journey.

I ordered the one-person meal, which included a large marinated crab, two succulent shrimp, and a green onion pancake. Every dish was a masterpiece. The marinated crab in soy sauce stole the show with its rich, savory flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the green onion pancake was a delightful blend of crispiness and softness, pairing wonderfully with the other dishes.

What truly stood out was the incredible balance of flavors and the freshness of the ingredients. The soy sauce marinade, in particular, was exceptional—a flavor so unique and delicious that it left me wanting more.

The restaurant staff was warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. For any foreigner traveling to South Korea, a visit to Odarijip Crab Restaurant is an absolute must. It’s not just a meal; it’s an authentic taste of Korean culture that you’ll remember long...

Decent food, on the pricier side but the worst part is the poor service. 1. Food comes out extremely slowly. Ordered just the raw crab and it took over 30 minutes to come out despite half the restarant being empty 2. Portions are quite small. $40 for a single crab. When we tried to place another order we were told the kitchen was closed (50 minutes before closing). We never got a last call warning. 3. They have a promotion to post a review for a free dish (the reason they have so many Google reviews). When I went to claim the offer I was told it had to include a picture of the crab. But again the crab did not arrive for over 30 minutes and was not at the table yet. Had to speak to multiple staff before they finally "approved" the review. They never brought me my free dish. 4. All meat was sold out and was only mentioned at the time of ordering. Would have been nice to know before we were seated... Crab was good, but I would not return based on the poor service and scammy pratices. Take your money to one of the many other raw marinated crab spots.
