Travelodge Myeongdong City Hall Seoul — Hotel in Seoul

I recently had a pleasant stay at Travelodge Myeongdong City Hall during my visit to Seoul. Overall, the hotel provided comfortable accommodations and convenient amenities. However, there are a few areas that could be improved upon for an even better experience.The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient, with the reception staff being friendly and proficient in English. It was refreshing to have a hassle-free experience upon arrival and departure.One of the highlights of the hotel was the presence of water dispensers on each floor. This feature made it easy to refill my water bottle without having to constantly purchase bottled water.The shower heater in the room worked well, quickly heating up the water and providing a satisfying high-pressure shower experience. It was a small but appreciated detail that added to the comfort of my stay.Another positive aspect was the availability of Netflix in the room. This entertainment option allowed me to relax and unwind with my favorite shows during my downtime.However, there were a few areas that could be improved upon. The hotel only had one washing machine and dryer available, which sometimes made it challenging to find an open slot. It would be beneficial if the management considered adding more machines to accommodate the laundry needs of guests.Additionally, while there were two nearby 7-Elevens and a Kyochon, I found the surrounding restaurants to be quite pricey. It would be fantastic if there were more affordable dining options available in the vicinity. This would enhance the overall experience for guests who prefer more budget-friendly dining choices.Lastly, during my stay, there was some ongoing construction nearby. Although it didn't significantly impact my overall experience, it's worth noting for those who prioritize a quiet atmosphere. Nonetheless, I believe this was a temporary situation that is likely to be resolved in the near future.In conclusion, Travelodge Myeongdong City Hall provided a pleasant stay with comfortable accommodations, friendly staff, and convenient amenities. However, improvements in terms of laundry facilities and the availability of affordable dining options would make me more likely to choose this hotel again in the future. I hope the management takes these suggestions into consideration for an even better...

1. I stayed this hotel from 9/4/2025 to 9/10/2025 for 6 nights and 7 days.
2. I say you will get what you paid for.
3. i was charged as follows 9/4, 9/5, 9/6 for three days, 41310 won each. 9/5 Sunday, 130410 won, 9/6 Monday 122310 won, 9/7 Tuesday 122310 won, and finally taxes are 49896 won in total of 548856 won.
4. The very first impression was downfall when I found a strand of hair below the pillow in the room. They apologized and offer me only one(not two, I am staying with my wife) free breakfast or a different room. No matter what, I chose different room without confidence. no more fresh feeling.
5. I spotted spots on duvet and some towels are over used stage because the heavily use one is thinner than newer one. You could tell the thickness difference by view and touch, especially it becomes evident if you use them after shower.
6. I assume the bath room is one of the major spot to determine the hotel grade. I spotted multiple black dots on the shower walls leading to possible fungus buildup.
7. The aged AC unit produce non-stop splashing noise as it pouring out cold air. The thermostat is not deliciated enough to satisfy the required temp and I am not sure if there are air flow control setting.
8. I wouldn't stay second time again though the location of the hotel is walk distance from myung-dong district where lot of travelers mingle together for eye shopping or to try out for variety of the street vendors and the Lotte shopping mall is shining just across the street
9. There are only one set of washer and dryer on the B1 level. I am not sure how the washer performs it own duty but the dryer, some how is preset drying temperature to only one default setting which produce partially dry/wet outcome even after 45 minutes drying cycle. it wat not a heavy load at all. My guess is the hotel may had guest(s) whose cloth(es) may got damaged due to high heat setting and try to prevent same hassle but It's not my concern, I want my things get fully dried.
10. I never confront the front desk other than a strand of hair on the bed because I try relax myself most not to compound headaches.
11. They do have plenty of extra umbellar for the guest who may borrow on a rainy day. 12)...

I don't like leaving a 3 star review, as it feels indecisive, like you weren't sure whether it was a good hotel or a bad one. Travelodge Myeongong City Hall, certainly wasn't a bad hotel, but there were so many things that could be better.

So firstly the good….. Location. We found the location perfect. A 5 minute walk to City Hall, a 10 minute walk to Myeongong Shopping Street and very handy for both metro and the airport bus. There were lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and coffee shops lose by, plus a couple of 7/11 shops, and despite the area being so vibrant, the room was quiet.

Reception Staff….. Reception were great. We were allowed to check in early, after a long flight from UK. We were given an area map and the French guy on reception was very friendly and helpful.

Price We thought the price was very reasonable for the location

Now the not so good…

The Room We paid for the more expensive deluxe room, but it honestly didn't feel very premium. Our Room 709 was quite small and cramped and looked a little bit tired. The curtains were closed when we checked in and after looking at the view from our room, we never opened them again. It wasn't very nice. The room needs a freshening up.

Cleaning Cleaning is only offered every three days, although you can request a clean with reception. This also meant that tea, coffee, bathroom items etc were never replenished, until the third day.

Sundries…. As above, these were only replenished every three days. We stayed for 3 nights and so didn't see a single cleaner, or ever get our sundries topped up. I suggest a small basket at reception, where guests can collect team coffee, sugar and milk, as needed.

So that's why we rated 3 stars. All ok, some stuff good and some less so. Would we stay again? Probably not, but I say again, it was good value, but maybe we just prefer something slightly...
