Outrageously rude waiter. Deserve 0 star.
Walked into this restaurant on 25 Dec 2024 during my holiday trip to Seoul, for a Christmas Dinner. We were quickly seated on the first level with my family of 5 (including 3 kids - 12, 10 and 7y/o). On the ordering tablet, we chose ENG version but the description about food item was rather lacking, mostly showing price and an accompanying photo. Nonetheless, we ordered several meat portions, stew and rice from the Ala Carte Menu. Banchan dishes were quickly served. Then, out of nowhere, a Korean waiter in his 30s appeared, barked at us curtly, "order for 5!!!" and left. My husband and I were shocked at his tone. We kept our cool and wanted to clarify with the waiter how to go about ordering to satisfy restaurant policies (in fact nothing was told to us at anytime). He kept ignoring our table and when we did manage to get him over, he shouted the same thing and walked off. Finally, after 4 times reaching out to him, he shouted, "Main Menu". By now, his commotion had caused most of the patrons to stare. We ended up adding a main menu item which turned out to be a meat course serving 4 people. With our earlier order, we had food easily enough for 7-8 adults. After the waiter brought the meat to our table, he smirked at us to "self grill", contrary to every other table having a staff doing the grilling. In the midst of my husband grilling our food, finally a foreigner waitress came to offer help after she was done with her own table. As could be expected, we could not finish even half the food ordered. The bill came up to be thrice what we usually paid for dinners during our trip. To add salt to wound, when we paid at the cashier, we saw the waiter grilling at another table. I gave feedback to the Korean cashier (in his early 30s) that "waiter was rude". After a quick passing gleam in his eyes indicating he understood what I said, he feigned ignorance, replying "kamsahamnida, kamsahamnida".
Such a lousy dining experience. What a joke of service.
(Come to think of it, the English translation of menu on the tablet was likely not accurate. The "ala carte menu" probably meant "add-ons" instead. Still, no matter the language barrier, miscommunication or even being overworked during Christmas season, there is simply no justification for such badgering from...
Read moreGreat BBQ place. Clean and a very friendly staff. We had Brick Ribs and the Wolga Beef Special. Quite a lot of food. They cook the ribs for you and you cook the beef and vegetables yourself.
Service was also very fast. I ordered some Soju from the tablet while I had a little left of my previous drink. The Soju arrived in about a minute.
Better quality than most of the Korean BBQ I've had in Los Angeles.
Finally, I didn't see this mentioned in other reviews, but the tablet menu also has a full English option (although much of the staff also speak English...
Read moreWe ordered a steak and a pork. Great choices, the service was out of this world. White shirt, no worries! They gave me a bib to protect it. The mum of the shop hand cooked and cut and showed us how to eat it all right.
No English skills but that was no worries! The service more than makes up for the communication barrier.
Also the “soup” in the middle of the BBQ was so flavourful.
Great great great! Would highly recommend.
