As many others have mentioned, driving to the hotel to drop off luggage is indeed a challenge! We ended up driving through a nearby pedestrian zone, invoking the ire (rightfully so) of many restaurant staff and customers. We ended up, after calling the hotel a second time, parking the car and (one of us) walking to the hotel, after which the very kind receptionist Wassima (sp?) walked back to the car and rode with us to find the hotel. Very stressful, but after that, we had an absolutely delightful stay. Our room was tiny -- I rarely mention that about European hotel rooms, but we were in the midst of a 10-day road trip and didn't want to leave anything in the car as it was parked in an open, free parking lot, so it took strategy to organize everything so that we could move around the bed. The hotel is gorgeous -- comprising two buildings next to each other, one built in the 1300s and the other in the 1500s. Despite the age of the buildings, it is decorated in a modern, minimalist way. There is a lift (thank goodness for those with lots of luggage) and, in our building, a common area that includes a sitting area and also a kitchen where one can get free coffee or tea and filtered water anytime, and honesty-based access to alcoholic drinks (we just needed to write down what we used and our room number and paid when checking out). Breakfast was superb: the usual Spanish breakfast buffet (savory and sweet) and hot dishes cooked right there once an order was placed. There is a lovely large sunken tiled jacuzzi (in the hotel website picture) which we never used because it closed at 9 and we were never back from dinner by then. The location of the hotel was also ideal, inside the city walls so very quiet, with many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. The old town of Alcúdia feels like a Moroccan medina, and this hotel has a riad feeling with a modern touch. Many thanks to Wassima and the other wonderful hotel staff for an...
Read moreEvery now and then you stumble across a hotel that in itself is the reason that you want to come back. The Hotel Can Mostatxins in Alcudia, Mallorca is one such hotel.
This little gem is only 3 years old after having under gone a 6 year renovation to convert what was once a rundown sandstone building in to what is now a touch of luxury and architectural brilliance.
Carved deep into the depths of the sandstone is this magnificent jacuzzi that is exposed to the skyline through a maze of bridges that lead into adjoining rooms.
Each of the rooms, of which there is only 9, is beautifuly presented with timber floors and sandstone feature walls. The rooms aren't large but are certainly comfortable.
The highlight of this hotel would have to be the managers Peter and Rudolph. Both had retired from the UK to take up the management of the Mostatxins. Let's not forget the beautiful Valentina who makes up the trio who impressed no end with with her many languages and her insights into the must see shopping experiences in Milano.
Would have to be one of the most friendly people that we have ever met. Both are a wealth of information with respect to places to eat and visit. Every morning they will treat you to an extensive breakfast spread spanning from fresh fruits to savoury meats and cheeses to finish with something sweet.
Could continue to rave about this hotel but I feel that you'll just have to come experience it for yourself. Truely an...
Read moreFrom check-in to check-out I had such a wonderful experience. Unfortunately we only stayed one night as we had a tight schedule but the staff were so great and knowledgeable. We arrived a couple hours before check-in and they were accommodating to allow us to leave our belongings while we walked around the local shops and reataurants. When we came back to check-in we were given a tour of the hotel and given specific details on usage of the facility, hotel accomodations, and local spots for food, the best beaches, etc. The staff was so warm, friendly, and welcoming.
Since we were only staying a night we planned on taking a taxi/bolt to and from the airport, howwever, the rates were insanely hiked up ($151+) from the airport to the hotel. It ended up working out best to rent a car since most of the beaches were pretty far to walk. However, if you're planning on renting a car, be prepared to park around the perimeter of the hotel has the hotel is located in a small town like area and you are unable to drive in the town. There plenty of parking around the hotel and it is free, but just be prepared to walk with your luggage 🤗.
I definitely will be coming back the next time we plan a vacation...
