The hotel was very nice.
The staff at the hotel were amazing. The thing I was not too happy about was the quality of the room. The walls were half repaired and shelfs and air ducts were dirty. The bed was quite hard and it took a couple of nights to adjust to it. And please change out the shower curtain, it keeps falling to the floor.
The windows of our room just led to walls of other windows on the hotel so it was quite claustrophobic.
We did not get the room we ordered and they said we got a upgrade but compared to the pictures of the room we ordered it was not in my opinion.
The gym really needs some work as most of the equipment is very old and in very bad condition.
The pool area was actually quite kozy but it needs 2-4 more sunbeds.
The location of the hotel was perfect. It was so close to bus stops that had buses going around all of town. It had many restaurants around and it was quiet, compared to walking in other parts of town where you can barely walk on the street.
I would recommend this hotel especially if they step up their game regarding their gym and...

We kept blinds closed as there was another room just a few feet away with their blinds & could look into both the downstairs & upstairs area of the levels. Not sure what the plan was if there was a fire outside our room door as the windows exited to a maybe 6ftx6ft concrete courtyard with no exit. Don't expect this to meet your past Hilton experiences for solid service & rooms. Bedroom & washroom were on second level of the hotel suite with access up a winding staircase. Anyone with mobility issues should avoid this property. Property was clean & staff did get us checked in a few hours early which was greatly appreciated. Walls are paper thin & you hear your neighbours if you are a light sleeper. Good location in a residential area with lots of public transit options. Not sure how this is a 4 star hotel as it would barely get a 3 star rating. Much nicer 4 star hotels in the area...
Read moreStep into the time capsule that is Hotel Gran Derby Suite, where the decor is stuck in a bygone era and the amenities are woefully inadequate. Our room was a cave-like abyss, with furniture that seemed to have been plucked from a thrift store. And don't even get us started on the bathroom - a shower that would flood the entire floor, leaving you tiptoeing around the edges to avoid slipping on the wet tiles.
The staff, while well-meaning, seemed to be going through the motions, offering a half-hearted smile and a shrug of the shoulders when we brought our concerns to their attention. And the breakfast? A sad, lackluster spread that would only satisfy the most basic of appetites.
All of this for a price that could get you a luxurious stay at a nearby hotel. Needless to say, we left feeling disappointed and ripped off. Save your money and your sanity, and steer clear of Hotel Gran...
