I just got back from a 4 night stay here. I was in the Lorca unit and stayed here with my wife and two children. This was the best place we stayed during this trip to Europe. Caridad’s place is just perfectly located - in the Albaicín neighborhood of Granada and it was immaculately clean. The beds and couch were very comfortable and AC units were in each room and connected via WiFi. The kitchen had a microwave/grill, small refrigerator, washer, and two burner elect stovetop. Enough utensils were provided so we could cook a simple meal. Bathrooms were comfortable sized with good water pressure, soft towels, and quality toiletries. There is a courtyard off the street when entering and so this helps with privacy and noise - neither an issue during our stay. There is a upstairs shared balcony with generous space and furniture which has views of the Alhambra that can’t be beat. It is about 50 ft below and parallel to St. Nicholas’s viewpoint and so we spent all our evenings up there. The neighborhood is walkable but if anyone has major mobility issues then this area of Granada would be challenging. Across the street was a tapas bar and within 15 min walk there are numerous bars/restaurants/grocery stores. We found elemen best for our grocery needs and had fun trying tapas at various places. The host family are just lovely - Caridad, her husband and daughters (who we met while there). They are willing to help with any needs and arranged a taxi for pick up for us when we were leaving for the station very early on our last day. This was one of the best places you can find in granada and I would absolutely...
Read moreOverall I'd highly recommend this as a place to stay. We had a ground floor, 2 bedroom apartment for two of us for four nights. The apartment is as decribed, it is comfortable and well equipped for a shortish stay. It was cold when we visited Granada but the aircon units work well as heaters so this wasn't a problem. The outside area is lovely to relax in with great views. It is a quiet area. Despite being directly opposite a flamenco/tapas bar, we were not bothered by outside noise at all. it is very well located for exploring central Granada, the Albacain area and the Alhambra. If you have heavy bags its worth knowing that the apartment is on a moderately steep cobbled street with steps (much of the Albacain is like this, it is part of its charm) and the taxi will drop you off on the 'main' road (itself a street so narrow that cars have to pull in their wing mirrors to get through at points). It's about 20 to 25 metres I think to the door. It wasn't a problem for us. There are plenty of minimarkets around for basic provisions. We didn't meet the owner Caridad but her daughter came round to check all was Ok shortly after we arrived, and was very helpful. At all stages, communication was very good (Caridid always wrote in Spanish, I dont know if she knows english as we didnt ask!). We had a number of questions and she always responded in a helpful way very quickly, including advice on places to go and...
