El Pozo — Restaurant in Granada

You know when you're a bit lost, and a lot hungry and everything falls into place. Well, we almost had it all here. Sadly, it just couldn't quite make the A or B grade. But it's a solid C. And hey, the world is full of decent examples of C grade. If only we could get a C grade leader in our country. It starts well here, the place has a good vibe. The "rekindled" couscous "amuse" is a fun little throw rug of something to help the Alhambra (beer) go down. From there, the happily B grade items are the salamorejo soup, the honey (well, molasses) eggplant and the patatas with aioli. Things fall away with the bacalao doughnuts and (later mercifully) espresso. The doughnuts may have once met bacalao, but they never really associated with it in the way this dish would require. The accompanying salad is as relevant and attractive as that kid in school that you bullied...but how you've evolved since, right? Let's hope the salad follows your lead one day. We visited this area on the recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed and El Pozo started us off on the right foot. Great service from the friendly waitress, good tapas included and a beautiful setting made it a great start to our walk of discovery. The walk up and down the steep valley face opposite the Alhambra Palace was well worth it, although only the valley basin, accessible by car, is wheelchair friendly. We would certainly visit...

Although it lacks the Mirador views of its neighbour restaurants - El Pozo has an authentic and genuine Spanish vibe. Located in a lovely patio, under greenish branches filled with little birds - the restaurant is homy and inviting. The staff is kind and the service is fast, we have enjoyed a tapas meal based on the various options from the menu. I would recommend highly to visit this lovely restaurant, if you wish to escape the overpriced...
