We made a reservation at this pseudo restaurant to go to on our last day of the trip, we went without a problem, when we got there, they put us at a ok table, but after about 30 minutes, two very rude customers arrived next to us, both women were listening to videos at full volume on their cell phones, and when they arrived, one of them threw her coat over my things (they were next to me, on the padded bench). It annoyed so much at a certain point that I couldn't stand the absurdly loud sound of the cell phones anymore and I went to talk to the waiter about the situation, as I saw that the restaurant was full and that maybe there wasn't a table so he could transfer us, I asked him to talk to the clueless indigent next to us and asked her to put down her cell phone as she was bothering me and other customers, instead he asked me if I wanted to change tables and that “people really talked”, showing a total disregard with this comment, as if it were just talk, obviously if it were that it wouldn't bother at all! It was a lack of sense on the part of the two women! Little did I know he would transfer me to a SO MUCH worse table right next to the kitchen! Clearly the noise was not the fault of whoever was in the kitchen, but the restaurant having an open kitchen next to the tables, making an absurd amount of noise, the sound of cutlery banging all the time, it seemed that they were stirring a box full of metal, a lot of noise really loud! Absurd, my bill came to €67.30 and it was a somewhat negatively memorable experience! It seems like a joke that the waiter moved us from a bad table to a worse one. Congrats on the bad customer service. I paid almost €70 to have this treatment. An addendum: the paella had almost no shrimp, if they had 5, it was a lot and regarding the couvert charge, the waitress threw two dry breads without asking us if we wanted them or not, neither my boyfriend nor I ate them and they charge us €1.90 for each person. In short, terrible atmosphere, so-so food and horrible treatment, take my advice and don't go, I ended up going by the positive reviews on google and I deeply...
Read moreI am a regular traveller and this place is one of the worst in terms of customers treatment.
My friend went to this place prior to us visiting and she asked if she could have Paella on her own. The manager said this is absolutely fine and she is welcome back any time.
Today, we ended up going together and the staff initially claimed that I have to eat Paella too. I made them aware that due to a diet and a medical condition I cannot eat rice and I will order a fish platter with vegetables. Mathematically this would cost me more (than eating Paella) even if you see it from the financial side. Jane, who was taking our order, became quite “aggressive” trying to tell us that I have to eat Paella too and that they do not do Paella for one person. When we finally came to a conclusion about our order I could see Jane pointing at us with her colleague Veronica from the far end and both of them were not happy with our order. It was more than clear from their facial expressions.
For the whole evening staff made us feel that we have no priority with our asks. The manager, who pretended to care, asked us about our experience and we clearly communicated that even though the food was good, the customer service is absolutely disgraceful. He just said sorry, in a way that basically made us feel that he was supporting his staff for their attitude. He was the same that had made a joke with the table next to us about my friend having a paella for one. His staff also pointed at us when he started his shift after we ordered. We were pointed in a way that we are the “trouble makers”.
Moral of the story, this place needs some serious skills around treatment of customers and allergies. In a city like Madrid where diversity is all around you, you need some serious training around accommodating customer needs and have...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant as a family. Myself, my wife, and our three year old toddler. We had really high hopes after reading so many glowing reviews online. We even had to book a day in advance because same day tables were fully booked. Unfortunately, the experience did not come close to what we expected.
From the moment we arrived, the service was slow and inattentive. It took around fifteen minutes before anyone greeted us or offered water. We asked for a baby chair as soon as we walked in, but it was never brought to our table. We did not ask again, but the staff clearly forgot, which says something about their attentiveness. The restaurant was not even busy, so the delays and the need for advance booking felt unnecessary.
The food was just okay. The bread came with cheese that had no flavor, and the calamari appetizer was served without any dips or sauces. We waited 30-40 minutes for the main course, and when it finally arrived, it was average at best. We ordered a paella for two, a half portion of fried calamari, and a bottle of water. The bill came to seventy three euros, which might have been acceptable if the portions were satisfying, but they really were not.
Communication was also a challenge since only a few staff members spoke English, which made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be.
To their credit, they were very generous with limoncello as we were leaving, possibly hoping to make up for the overall experience. But unfortunately, that kind gesture was not enough to change how we felt. We actually ended up going somewhere else for another meal after we left.
Overall, it was a disappointing visit that did not live up to the hype. For us, this was a three out of...
