Stayed here for a whole month, for business, and would NOT recommend.||There are some positive aspects to this hotel, sure. The staff is friendly and very helpful, the location is great, the kitchenette is well replenished with the main tools one needs to cook, and the bed is comfortable. There was no shortage of hot water/electicity nor any problem like that. ||However I consider this apartment hotel to be below average, and here are the main reasons for this review:||1 - It has no reception.||You rely on your mobile device to be able to enter your room for the first time. After that it is okay, I guess, since you can enter your room with a PIN. However the user experience is very low quality overall.||2 - Room service only once per week. ||Plus, if you want your room to be “extra clean” there is literally a paid extra. What do you mean by that? If I don’t choose that extra my room won’t be perfectly clean? ||3 - Noisy.||Apartment windows almost don’t block the sounds from the street. And the street is VERY noisy. I slept almost every night with earplugs, and the nights I didn’t, I woke up many times due to sounds from the outside. If you want to sleep past 7:30 A.M. good luck, the bell of a church nearby does the favor of waking you up. Really hate that bell.||4 - The windows, again.||Apartment windows don’t entirely block sunlight, so if you need to sleep until late in the morning, this is not the place for you.||5 - Breakfast||It isn’t worth it. Really, the staff is very kind, but the variety is very low. Way below the average of most 3 star hotels I have stayed in. Not worth the cost.||To complement my user experience perspective:|I was called one morning in the MIDDLE of my stay, warning me that the check-out time was until 11 a.m., and I was already late. What? |If they aren’t able to do reservations of more than 15 days, at least take extra care to know if their guests are staying for 2 consecutive reservations.|That day, when I arrived at the hotel, I was standing in front of my room for 20 minutes, because my PIN no longer worked. I had to message the hotel staff via WhatsApp to have my problem fixed. They were very helpful, but I can only imagine what would happen if my phone’s battery was dead.|Throughout my stay I helped many other guests opening the front door, since like me they were a bit confused on how to enter the building, with all the suitcases and backpacks on them. I believe the hotel communication should be clearer about how their system works. If many people experience the same problem, perhaps the problem is not the people, but how the system is designed.||Anyway, I hope that these problems are addressed and when they are solved, next guests counter...
Read moreLocation is great, within walking distance of many hotspots and a metro station nearby. Our room was nice and clean and although there was some noise from outside it was pretty quiet for an apartment in the city center. But still we would not stay here again. We booked the apartment because it has a kitchen, so we could prepare our own dinner if we wanted. But the kitchen was really disappointing.
When we checked-in we found out that our ‘kitchen’ was so small you couldn’t spread your arms without touching the walls. Next to the sink and a small cooktop there was maybe 30 cm space for preparing food. The promised microwave and water cooker were not present. We were very disappointed and complained with the staff. They understood our complaint and got us another room. That room was a bit smaller, but with a much bigger kitchen, so we accepted it.
Although it was better, the kitchen itself was far below par. From a lot of kitchen items we found only one piece (1 coffee mug for two people is not comfortable). We had no sharp knife (ever tried to slice a tomato or a bell pepper with normal cutlery?), no kitchen towels (we used a towel from the bath room) and no oven, even though it was mentioned in the ad. Also, basic ingredients like pepper, salt, sugar and oil were lacking (we did find some beer in the fridge though). When we asked for the items like a knife, potholder, kitchen towel they told us they didn’t have those available.
The extractor exhaust blows its air into the kitchen cabinet above the cooktop and the first time we tried making dinner that set off the fire alarm apparently, because a staff member came by to check if there really was fire. She promised the extractor would be fixed the next day. That never happened. By the way, the alarm didn’t make any sound in our room, so that would not be helpful in the case of a real fire.
All in all, we had a great vacation in Madrid and the apartment was okay (silent airco, very clean room, wider bed than usual in Spain), but the issues with the kitchen were very disappointing. If you book this as just a hotel room it is a great choice, but if you want a room with a kitchen, this is...
Read moreMy wife and I recently visited Madrid, Spain, and chose to stay at Libere Madrid Palacio Real.
We booked through expedia and didn't put too much thought into the hotel selection other than skimming through the pictures and the generalized location. This location couldn't have been anymore perfect.
We are "city walkers" and will easily walk 13 to 15 miles a day exploring random streets and places, and this hotel was in a perfect location to pick a new direction each day. The location is centralized to all of the key areas of Madrid with less than a 7 minute walk to popular squares, shopping districts, and restaurants.
Upon entering our room, we received a welcome gift with waters, nespresso capsules, chips, and a guide to Madrid.
We stayed on the top, 4th floor studio room with a private bathroom, kitchenette that included a microwave, fridge, nespresso, utensils, a power operated sunlight with shade, good a/c and ample room to relax. Both the living space and bathroom are on the larger side for what we're used to in Europe. However, the only downside with the 4th floor room was the slanted ceilings that do diminish usable space in the room and you have to be cautious not to hit your head, but I wouldn't rate the room lower because of it because we enjoyed the design and aesthetic. We also had two windows that could be opened and offered a lot of natural light with the sunlight.
We stayed 5 nights, Saturday thru Wednesday, and didn't have any issues with noise inside or outside. Daily temps outside were 90-100*F, and the room temp was still great. I can't say what it's like staying in lower floor rooms as we did stay on the top floor.
Service was self-service and done virtually. I downloaded the Libere app after booking our trip. It was super easy to check in and use my phone as a keyless entry to enter the hotel and our room. We didn't need to speak with anyone during our entire stay. Check out was just a press of a button in the app. If you're a self-sufficient traveler you'll love these features.
Overall, I would recommend staying here and we would likely stay here again if we were to ever visit...
