We had 2 rooms, one with a balcony. Both rooms were surprisingly roomy for the size. There was plenty of space for our items. The bed was comfy, and while I initially thought the bluetooth speaker was a novelty we actually used it while we were there. Our friend stayed in a double room (no balcony) and the layout made the room feel much larger than expected. She also enjoyed the bed, and had a good rest. ||The hosts were very friendly and helpful, pointing us to several gluten-free restaurants as well as some interesting tours. The free breakfast buffet was a pleasant bonus, and had something for everyone - including gluten-free bread and non-dairy yogurt.||Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will visit again the next time we’re in Madrid. It’s an excellent value proposition for the room quality, amenities, location, and cost. There are 2 Metro stops close by, as well as many restaurants and parks / museums.||Highlights:|* The closest Metro stop is Estación del Arte. The Atocha stop is further up the street. |* Breakfast is scheduled because it's a cozy space on the roof with fresh, exceptional food for everyone's needs |* There are cozy nooks to work on a laptop or read a book, both on the ground level and on the rooftop. |* Staff were exceptional regardless of time of day or where you were on the property- friendly, knowledgeable, very helpful. Truly a 5-star experience|* Our 28L backpacks and small rollerboard bag were easily stored out of the way.||We recommend it to anyone and look forward to returning. We were excited to hear they will have another location (Valencia) in...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is simply perfect like everyone has said before. Is about 5-10min walk from the Atocha train station and is around the traingle of museums having the Reina Museum at 3min, the Prado at 10-12 and the Thyssen as well. There are lots of cafés and restaurants of all types from mcdonalds, KFC, TGB, VIPs and many more. The breakfast was quite expensive for what it was. They also have to remember that not everyome is from the same continent and some rules may not be the same; for example: I had an issue when I ordered a taxi very early on the morning. The taxi never arrived so we had to take one on our own. When we were doing the check-out is when we get informed that the hotel pays beforehand for an exclusive-type taxi, while we didnt asked for that type of taxis and really when have I ever payed beforehand for a taxi? So make sure to know this before ordering a taxi and that way you won't be troubled with those differences. The room are comfortable enough, and I stayed in one with a view and I was very happy with it. The hotel is very up to date and clean and the beds are simply amazing and very comfortable. Mind you, they do not have a dresser so you will have to leave everything on your luggages and/or bags. In general even though we had the taxi issue, I plan to stay here next time as it is simply a perfect location hotel and a very clean, comfortable and nice one. I also brough a couple of friends that stayed the same time period (8 days) and they also loved it. Stay here ;) p.s. that's my mom on...
Read moreA true single budget room is rare, but SLEEP’N Atocha delivers. I was a bit worried that an “interior room” would be a windowless cell, but there are windows into a light well, providing that necessary psychological light. The bonus of an interior room was that in the heatwave, the room wasn’t heated by the sun. I found the room just big enough for me and my suitcase. It’s a good room for those who don’t spend much time at their accommodation. I happily spent four nights here, leaving to explore the city after a delicious breakfast and returning after nightfall. The “free” unlimited soft drinks and tea for checking in online were a nightly bonus when I got back to the hotel. For those unfamiliar with the Spanish checking-in process, it can be done before you arrive at the hotel. It’s basically data entry - your passport no, your address etc. The breakfasts on the rooftop (enclosed and air-conditioned, thank goodness) were delicious. I particularly liked the fresh melon and changing home made cakes. The location was great - just next to Atocha station and the Reina Sofia and a stone’s throw from the Prado. It’s an easy walk to various markets and bars and museums. It was also convenient for a day trip to Toledo, which is a 34 minute train ride from Atocha. My one complaint was the use of disposable cups. I was attracted by the hotel’s B-corp status and environmental statements but the disposable cups used for the soft drinks and teas were at odds with...
