You'll be rushed to order and rushed to make the payment when asking for the bill. The guy immediately put bread on the table in a basket like all restaurants do for free without asking, then charged us one euro each for it! He also added one euro each for "service"! Bear in mind that service has been included in menu prices for the last 20 years or so in almost every European country.
The game does not end there; He add a plate we never ordered nor seen on the table to our bill. When confronted with all of that later on, he reluctantly refunded the 6 euros for the 'ghost' plate but swore to keep the 4 euros for bread and service even if we called the police. So this is only the money part of it. So much stress...
Now the food: My wife ordered the tiny breaded peppers. Lots of oil, barely any coating and bitter or insipid selection of peppers!
I ordered the "croquetas de bacalao" in tapas size (were ok since they were per-packaged and microwaved so no way his kitchen could mess them up). Also ordered as tapas: fried breaded fish cubes (fish gave off stench and had raw taste to it), also ordered fried breaded calamari (the flesh was already too big and chewy to enjoy at all, and their breading did not provide any positive impact). By the way, no matter what you order, there will be an unappetizing lump of alfalfa, shredded carrrot, and thick sugary and sour thick sauce mixed together on each plate. Patatas bravas were ok (you have to be a total criminal to mess up this easy one). I was glad not to suffer food poisoning on top of the ripoff. So there you have it! Stay away, save yourself and others by not supporting this old-antics factory of horror and scams. Otherwise, enjoy this...
Read moreWow. We never fall for tourist traps but this one was impressively deceptive - well done guys.
Looks like a dusty, neglected tapas bar/Taberna style place with chalk boards outside displaying the usual fare.
Stopped by for a quick bite and glass of wine. We were not greeted or given menus when we arrived, despite it being empty.
Ordered our own drinks at the bar before choosing a few basic items from the chalkboards with help of waitress we’d flagged down. Despite our questions on the food, she still gave us NO full menu to look at.
Prawns, pork, sauce and potatoes took too long to arrive and table was not set for us when they did. Food was in huge portions and very, very low quality. Turns out what they make look like tapas… isn’t even possible to order as tapas portions; only restaurant main meal size ones. We shrugged it off, because even larger portions in Seville are never more than €10ish per plate.
But when the bill came we’d been charged almost €20 per plate!
only when we contested the bill (which they’d also tried to add service to) did the waitress show us the menu and the insane pricing on it.
They must try and trick people into thinking it is a cheap and cheerful joint by not showing their menus a lot 😂
In a city where authentic, well priced, delicious Spanish food is on every corner, go anywhere but here!
Even the glossy tourist tapas restaurants on the Main Street leading towards/around the cathedral are priced like local joints. Estrella taberna is...
Read more“Restaurant” is located in a Nice quiet alley and the drinks were cheap. However, I ordered the tenderloin. They did not ask how I wanted, which I didn’t realize until too late. When it arrived it was cooked to hamburger levels, gray all the way through. When I sent it back with the instruction that I wanted it medium/rare. It came back cold on the inside, clearly previously frozen. (See image) Someone else ordered the swordfish, which was a very small portion for the money (€14) and overcooked. Kind of embarrassing the food they serve here.
When one of my dinner partners walked to the bathroom, he saw a cockroach in the kitchen. Make of that what you will.
If you’re having drinks, maybe this place is for you. If you’re having food,...
