We stayed three nights for a long weekend to explore Valencia with some mixed feelings about the hotel. Good: - perfect location in Valencia - amazing property in the style of 1920s - very attentive service personal at the reception - great overall design in lobby, bar, restaurant and rooms - great rooms with very comfy beds - very tasty a la carte breakfast (but see also comments and things to improve) - A/C works very well in the rooms - very nice rooftop terrace - Housekeeping was spotless Things to improve - Kitchen for a la breakfast is very slow. The kitchen took each morning more than one hour to provide all items we ordered. - Amazing rain shower in the bathroom, but since water pressure in the hotel is very low it is not possible to use it as only very few water drops slowly out of it. This was the case in two rooms we stayed (we changed rooms). - Reception was not reachable via phone in the two rooms we stayed - Pool at the top is very small and there are only two sunbeds - Warm water didn’t work properly on one day/evening Good things to know: - Up to the 4th floor all rooms and hallways have very high ceilings which gives a very unique atmosphere - 5th and 6th floors have normal ceilings as these floors have been newly added to the historic structure of the building - The new upper floors have better soundproof windows We enjoyed our stay, but would only come back if the issues with the room (especially the water pressure) as well as the speed of the kitchen for breakfast would be improved.

I took a while to write this review cause I was having mixed feelings about writing a review about the hotel. Overall, the hotel is great as it was a new hotel and everything is sleek and modern. I got an upgrade to the premium corner room as a titanium member and the room had such a great view. Breakfast at the lobby was super awesome too. We felt spoilt by the breakfast. Other than that, the service of the staff was very subpar for such a pricey hotel. We were there for 4 days and until the 3rd day, some of the receptionists were still questioning if we are staying at the hotel when we walk past. Some of them alway give such a stern face, which definitely makes you feel not welcome at all. So much for the hospitality. Also, the WiFi was not working for 2 days and the hotel offered no solution and only told us to just wait for it to get fixed.

Gorgeously decorated and situated hotel right in the centre of Valencia. The City Hall view room was just charming. Though the room was tastefully Gatsby glamorous, there were some problems (like our shower flooded with a 2 min use; there was a drainage issue). Breakfast was also painfully slow and I believe it was due to a staffing/operational issue. We felt really bad for the 2 servers struggling to keep up with the demands of peak breakfast times. Often orders were forgotten or brought to the wrong table, a queue of guests waiting to be seated, and to even be served basic water within 15 minutes of seating, etc. All these things need to be resolved for the property to uphold its reputation as a full-service 5 star hotel.

🛎️I did a hotel inspection and here’s what I can tell you! This is an incredible combination of ancient heritage and modern-level service. The fact that it belongs to the prestigious Marriott brand is felt in every detail.

Your love begins with a pleasant scent at the entrance and the doorman’s warm smile. (I was lucky — there were fresh peonies, and I absolutely love them!)

Then — the lobby, like in a Hollywood movie from the Gatsby era. With a bar and a grand piano. Panoramic windows overlooking the city square. Great place, I'll come back to have coffee here.

🪞The hallways are perhaps the most unusual — curved, to hide the doors and avoid seeing other guests. A certain mystery and privacy. The carpets are so soft your feet literally sink in — they add comfort and coziness.

But the most memorable thing here — the doors. 🚪Like a bank vault: three times thicker than normal doors. As you enter the room, you’re met with an incredible sense of space — the high ceilings have been preserved, keeping part of the thousand-year-old building’s history.

🫣The hotel is located right in the center, on the main square. You’d think: “What could be worse” in a city where there are fireworks and crowds of tourists every day… But it’s as quiet as a museum here. I don’t know how, but you don’t even hear the cars honking. And truly — stress-free sleep is the best thing on any trip. It might sound strange to some, but there’s nothing worse than hearing your neighbors or a crowd celebrating outside when all you want is sleep. ⁉️I’m still curious to stay overnight and find out how good the pillows are (and if there’s a pillow menu in case they’re not comfy!). Maybe they’ll invite me to test it 😂

At the top — a terrace, a pool, and a magical view of the city. All rooms are of the same standard, and each one includes a bar, bathrobe, and safe. There’s even an ironing board and iron ⁉️The design is very original — a blend of classic touches with modern elements, featuring golden accents that are not flashy or vulgar at all.

There are automated functions — a smart home system that lets you control both the temperature and lighting in the room.

In the evening, in the main hall (where breakfast and dinner are served), there are live music nights. Guest musicians play piano in the center of the room. There’s also a bar and a large selection of cocktails.

Downstairs — a meeting room for up to 10 people and a gym!

This is also the perfect place to start your city exploration — right outside the hotel are many cafes, restaurants, shops, and charming little streets for walking. Not far away, you’ll find the Cathedral with the Holy Grail, and San Nicolas Church, which is often compared to the Sistine Chapel for its breathtaking ceiling paintings.

And the best idea — a bike tour with a guide: discover hidden corners, hear the wonderful history of Valencia, and finish the evening watching the sunset in Albufera Bay.

You’ll find my Instagram in the profile: @armine.hellotravel — I’ll be happy...

I stayed for an event trip that overlapped with our anniversary. Wanted one nice gesture: a paid-for bottle of champagne in the room, something apparently very simple to do... ||I confirmed the anniversary champagne twice (via Ambassador and pre-arrival email). Bottle was not there, apparently due to the "missed selection" on my side...|instead we found dessert plus a welcome note addressed to a different guest, quite awkward.||After I asked about the missing bottle, staff sent me options via their chat, then rang the room, clearly ruining the surprise. In an attempt to save the surprise, I picked a bottle that finally arrived in a bucket with a few ice cubes and a lot of cold water, my partner ended up signing the bill herself... Call it a surprise||Often hotels at this level place a free prosecco bottle in the room (which I did not ask for) so even if they really asked me to pick one pre-arrival and for whatever reason I didn't receive the email, any GM of any luxury property would have said "let's put a bottle in there regardless because it's a surprise"... After me complaining about it they did not even bother saying "the bottle is on us because of the trouble we caused". ||One afternoon we were stopped near the elevator with “Can I help you?” even though key-card access is required, maybe cause we were in shorts on a 40 degrees day? Lift have security scan to access the floor so felt very unnecessary. ||The restaurant card reader wouldn’t take my Amex, staff just said “use another card” instead of trying a second terminal.||No toothbrush in the room||All in all the property is brand new and in an attractive location, also I appreciated the complimentary room upgrade, however service did not follow along.||The service isn’t yet at true luxury level, it could eventually fall under a 4-star level hotel. At this price range the alternatives are quite abundant...
