Linda Cottage — Hotel in Galle

Beware...

I was given the back "room" next to the kitchen with a shared bathroom. The price was the same as a guesthouse with a private bathroom and fan, which made this stay even more disappointing.

The room itself is like a dingy pod with minimal ventilation, inconveniently positioned next to a garden with a glass roof that radiates excessive heat into the room. There is only one small window that when closed, makes the room feel extra stuffy. As to be expected during the day time, the room gets way hotter than the rest of the home. And to make matters worse, the ceiling fan circulates more heat in the room the longer it's on. In fact, my screen protector was actually melting off my phone any time I was in the room. I asked the owner/manager if she was able to give me a portable fan to help with the issue, but she said no. She acknowledged that this room gives off more heat than the others and even suggested I stay somewhere else. However, she was not willing to give me a refund. To make matters worse, check out time is around 9/9:30am, which to me is absolutely ridiculous.

Additionally, wifi in this room was virtually non-existent because the router was all the way by the main entrance.

Personally, I think you're better off staying somewhere else (or at the very least in a different room).

FYI, upon arrival, I found a large dead cockroach in the bathroom, but I feel like that may be the case anywhere you go...

Linda was kind, let us used the kettle when I asked room and the shared bathroom was clean room had plugs on one side of the bed and a little table to put the phones on

Now why you shouldn’t stay here

our room was in between kitchen and living room, there was no privacy, as there always was someone there as soon as we stepped out the door to go to the restroom (we needed to cross the whole living area to do so) mosquito net is for single bed so it wasn’t covering the double bed, I was waking up at night net was not covering anything and of course I got a lot of mosquito bites. There was no repellent either they have a dog that barks and growls pretty much all the time (every time he sees a person, and they have a lot of people coming in and going out) there is no relax or sleeping in this place we didn’t sleep much, there was always some noice of people walking to the bathroom, talking or dog barking

There are other places for similar price. Not worth getting bitten and not being...

I stayed at this place recently while in Galle for the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh U17 match. It’s conveniently located within walking distance of the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Everything you need, including restaurants and supermarkets, is close by, making it a very practical choice.

The room was super comfortable, spotlessly clean, and provided all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The owner of this property was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable.
