Restaurant guests should check their bills carefully. We ordered a three-course meal for 86 francs and a side dish for 39 francs. The waiter added a two-course lunch for 76 francs, which was not even on the menu. After we pointed out the mistake, the staff changed the bill. But this is an embarrassing situation. Not good if you practise it.
Yes, and in general the food was not very good. The fish for the main course was overcooked. The potatoes were also overdone. There are almost no vegetables and the slices are so small that they look unappetising. It is not clear what this restaurant is famous for. The location is bad, next to the railway station, and the service of the waiters is not very good. We came to the restaurant after reading reviews. Exaggerated expectations lead to disappointment. Of course, it is especially unpleasant when someone misleads you and attributes to you something that you did not get and that is not even on the menu. The waiter was so friendly that he added two bottles of water to our bill, even though we had only ordered one. Of course, when he was informed of the mistake, he corrected himself but did not...
Read moreMille Sans is phenomenal. Chef Domingo is one of the most creative cooks I have ever met - he brings influences from so many different cuisines from around the world into each meal, yet the dishes still fit together harmoniously. It’s no exaggeration to say I enjoyed Mille Sans more than my meals at various Michelin-starred restaurants.
My family of three ate at Mille Sans for lunch (we shared two business executive lunch menus and a salad bowl), and were so blown away by the food that we returned for dinner, ordering the tavolata (a surprise sharing menu that the chef is happy to customize based on any dietary restrictions or dislikes you have). We deliberately walked around a lot between lunch and dinner to build up an appetite so that we could return! The dishes between lunch and dinner were totally different, but equally delicious. I have attached photos of a few of our dinner plates to this review.
Chef Domingo is extremely personable and comes out to chat with the guests. The restaurant staff are also friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you for the wonderful meal - I will plan a return trip to Bern just to eat at...
Read moreGood cuisine; generous complimentary amuse-bouches and desserts; welcoming and attentive service; and a very helpful sommelier. Four stars for each category (food, service and atmosphere), but 3 stars overall. Why?
There was a lag of at least 30 minutes between some courses, for a prix fixe.
We don’t know if it was because we ordered different menus (there are variations you can choose from, such as a fixed-course menu or a la carte); or if the kitchen really functions this way. But we did notice other guests were waiting somewhat long as well.
If our order was the cause, we would have appreciated being told of the potential delay. We probably would have adjusted.
Pity, because the restaurant’s good characteristics are overshadowed by the unpleasantness...
