Friendly staff, but that's about it (though the staff are a big credit to the hotel). The main BIG, major major issue though was a lack of air conditioning on the room which was not obvious on the website. It meant sleeping there was very difficult and not a good experience and left us very tired during the next day. They should really make it clearer about the air conditioning (or lack thereof) on their website. Seriously, this is a big issue. Without as good night sleep, we couldn't enjoy the city properly and were very tired throughout the day, surviving on coffee!
The city is expensive and only being able to enjoy it whilst very tired was not what we had in mind. We missed doing a few things we wanted to do because we had to spend extra hours in bed trying to make up our terriblly bad night sleep. We had the window open all night and the fan on full, but the street is not quiet and traffic noise is very loud! In addition there is a bell tower very close nearby that sounds it's bells every 15 mins well into the early hours of the morning. Not good while trying to cool the room down with an open window!!
Ultimately you go to a hotel fundamentally to sleep and a bad night sleep ruins your trip the next day. We stayed here for a night but moved to a different hotel the next day as this place could not offer us a decent night sleep.
Honestly, avoid this place in the summer months as the rooms are too hot, sweaty, uncomfortable and stuffy. They say in the brochure in the rooms that because they are listed that they cannot offer air conditioning. Any experience traveler knows that that is BS of the highest order, and is an excuse for the hotel to not put some decent AC in the rooms. A desk fan in the room is not "air conditioning"! Offering free ear plugs - for which ours were non existent in the rooms - is not a replacement for air conditioning.
There are other options. In window AC units exist!
Zurich is a lovely city, but this hotel cannot offer you the good night sleep you need to enjoy it. Ultimately, you should avoid this hotel for your stay as it is not able to accommodate a good night sleep. We ended up moving to a different hotel the next day (with air conditioning) and were able to enjoy the rest of our stay in Zurich. But avoid Leonardo Boutique Hotel if you value a good...
Read moreOverall the hotel was really nice and a good value for the money. It was clean and updated, and the staff was very friendly. However our experience was not as good as it could have been for two reasons. One was that this late August period in Zurich was unseasonably warm, so our room was hot. There is no air conditioning so a small table fan was the only way to cool the room down. We had a west-facing room that got the afternoon sun which made the room hot in the afternoon and evening. The second thing was that the local church, which is just across the street rings its bells every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. One through four bells gives the 15-minute interval and one through 12 bells gives the hour. If you close the window to the balcony you don't hear the bells so much but then you roast in the hot room. We had to keep both the window and the door to the balcony open, so we heard the church bells all night long. I ended up laying awake every night and counting the bells until the wee hours of the morning! We asked to be moved to a different room but the hotel was apparently full and this was not possible.
Recommendations: If you are visiting Zurich in the summertime and plan to stay at this hotel, I would recommend the following. When making your reservation or at check-in, ask for a room on the east side of the hotel. The church bells should not seem as loud there and the afternoon sun will not heat up your room as much. Bring a pair of ear plugs just in case you can still hear the bells in an east-facing room. And an east-facing room is right above the tram tracks so you might hear the trams while they...

I recently stayed at Leonardo Boutique Hotel Rigihof Zurich, which is marketed as a 4-star hotel, but unfortunately, my experience was far from that. I would rate it 1 star at best.
The furniture in the room looked second-hand, as if it had been picked up from a junkyard. There was visible mold in the bathroom, and the floor skirting boards were broken. The radiators were stained and dirty, and overall cleanliness was seriously lacking.
There were only two bedside lamps, and one of them was missing its shade. The lighting in the room was poor, making it feel even more uncomfortable. It looked nothing like the photos shown during the booking process — very misleading.
The room was hot and humid, making it hard to breathe. There was only a cheap standing fan, which barely circulated any air. The overall atmosphere in the room felt unhygienic and unpleasant.
To make things worse, the Wi-Fi connection was unreliable — it was extremely slow and disconnected frequently.
The only positive aspect of the stay was the friendly staff. Unfortunately, their hospitality wasn’t enough to make up for the poor state of the room.
I would not recommend this hotel and would advise others to look elsewhere when...
