Pros of this place: large co working area that is modern, has abundant hippish travel/philosophical books for browsing. You can buy food back to eat here as there are tables and you can sit for as long as you want. The radio will keep playing pop songs though so it isn't a quiet, conducive place if you want total silence or to read quietly. They have free water dispenser with hot water for you to have your instant noodles fix! Breakfast smells divine though I did not try it. They also have a washing machine and dryer for use for free... But no place to hang the laundry if the dryer is out of use.
Staff is helpful and professional. Helped me to call a travel agency to ask questions. The reception is always manned so that's great as well. You don't have to worry about being locked out etc.
There are noodle shops nearby and the Dongmen Night market is really just less than 5 min walk away. Very convenient to buy food there and then come back to the hostel to eat.
Cons: there are too many beds in the hostel room with only 1 bathroom. You have to queue for your turn to shower. The curtains at the beds do not sufficiently block out the light in the room. The bed mattress is also kind of soft and not firm enough. The locker is large enough to store a check in 20 inch suitcase and its right at your bed so that is a plus. They also provide 2 hangers. And a good lock system for the locker. The aircon is wayyyyyyyyy too cold. Freezing! It was unpleasant how cold it was despite asking the reception to turn it down. The bathroom was great for shower as it was so premium and large. However, the doors are sliding wooden ones and when your roommates used the hair dryer, the whole room could hear it. The shampoo and body soap is premium too though. Hot water is very very good. Floor mat also included. Mini towel needs to be rented at TWD30 as they don't provide. The toilet is too narrow and the sink too mini so the floor gets wet after people wash their hands.
If these areas can be looked into and improved, this would be...
Read moreWOW I love this boutique hotel!! I had a hard time choosing to stay in Jiaoxi for hotspring hotels or Yilan to be closer to traditional taiwan food. I am so glad I chose yilan and especially this hotel.
It is soooo near the train station. I walked from the bus station to the yilan station (tell them you just need to cut across the station and train tracks - dont need to purchase a ticket) and then to the hotel. Station to hotel is only 3 minutes! Just need to cross 1 road.
Hotel had a nice smell and hotel receptionist was friendly and efficient. Because it is a small hotel, service was fast as they dont have to handle so many guests. My room was at the 2nd floor and there was a lift too.
I booked only a king sized bed room but to my surprise, I got "upgraded" and got a large room with 2 king beds! Woohoo! Plenty of space. And the floor isnt carpeted - felt really clean. Toilet was super clean too - no signs of excessive mould. Room smells good too. Everything was so clean.
I didnt try their breakfast as there are so many good food within walking distance - sesame sauce noodles, wanton soup, beef and mutton noodle soup, breakfast food. There is also a mcdonalds and a night market within 5 minutes of walk!
Really an amazing hotel - small, good service, great location to everything....
Read moreI stayed at Hangkhau Hotel for a night and I had a pleasant experience. The hotel is located right next to the train station, which makes it convenient to travel to other parts of Yilan. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped with amenities, such as a TV, a fridge, a kettle, and a hairdryer. The bed and pillows reasonable. However, the rooms can be noisy at times. The AC can also be loud and I couldn’t tell if it was from my room or the neighboring rooms. I recommend bringing earplugs or headphones if you are sensitive to noise.
The breakfast set includes a variety of dishes, such as eggs, toast, fruit, and coffee. The food is fresh and tasty, and the portions are generous. The prices are reasonable and the service is fast. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Hangkhau Hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and convenient place to...
