I had a 40 minute stop between trains and I wasn't sure if I would have time to get a meal here. In the end I was able to walk here, order takeout, had a coffee at the resto, and got back to the station with more than enough time to catch my train.
The outdoor area is quite spacious but doesn't seem to have seating but the indoor area had lots of room and no customers in the middle of the day on a Saturday. The staff was friendly and efficient, the space clean and comfortable.
I ordered both the pulled pork and the pastrami. The flavor of the pork was better, but both were good. The bread was super light and it didn't feel like I heavy meal. You have the option to add more meat for a reasonable fee, but as I wanted to try two burgers I went for the smaller option which was still a good amount of meat.
My issue with the sandwiches was how soggy they were. I immediately ate one of them when I got to the station so maybe 5 minutes after it was prepared and the bottom but was already super wet. Read moreIG: foodie_foxx 1919 is a restaurant that stands out not only for its delicious food but also for its unique cultural background. The owners, who come from an aboriginal background, have created a menu that showcases their heritage and love of smoked meats.
One of the standout dishes at 1919 is their smoked pork, pulled pork, and brisket. The smokiness of the meat is the highlight of the meal and is sure to leave your taste buds satisfied. However, I would caution against ordering the chicken wings as they can be a bit dry.
The owners of 1919 are incredibly kind and welcoming, and they even treated us to a traditional dessert of milk and chewy fruit jelly. It's clear that they take great pride in their food and in sharing their culture with their customers.
In addition to their main menu items, 1919 also offers delicious ice cream served in a crunchy cone. It's the perfect way to round out your meal.
Overall, if you're looking for a unique dining experience that celebrates local culture and serves up delicious smoked meats, 1919 is definitely worth a visit. Just be sure to skip the chicken wings and save room for some ice cream. Bon appetite...

The dining area is quite small but cozy and clean. The slow-cooked meat is just amazing. And the pastrami burger is probably the best burger I have had in Taiwan. Everything we tried were flavorful and juicy. Prices are also quite reasonable considering the portion and quality of the food.
