was to travel by Air Tanzania flight TC410 on 19th June 550am Mumbai to Dar es Salaam. Flight was delayed by 40min and we boarded at 545am. The flight began to move on the internal runway, taxiying and it took two slow rounds after which the pilot announced ' due to technical problem we have to return to the parking bay'. The flight was finally parked and there was no further announcement. After 1 hour the pilot announced 'flight will not operate and passengers will have to disembark after the clearance by ground control'. After this till 1230pm all passengers were stranded inside the cabin. Requested for water or snacks but the cabin crew flatly refused, without being apologetic. 6 hours inside the cabin was torturing. No announcement or status was told by the crew. Finally at 1230 we were asked to disembark into a waiting bus. Here the bad experience continued ....we were in the bus for 45 min without water and ladies, sr citizens, kids holding washroom urges. Requests to the airline field manager Santosh Jadhav went unheeded, please to ground staff, security to send some water also were ignored. Pathetic, inhuman and unprofessional behaviour from the Airline staff. Finally we were taken to the international terminal at 1.20pm and herded near the lounge (indigo international transfer counters were there) in the arrival area with no faculty of water, food or washroom. The washroom was closed. On several requests it was opened by a janitor. No information or answer for further flight, connecting flights was coming from Tanzania staff. All were ignorant to our requests. Airline manager asked " who wants to opt out of flying?" So 11 passengers opted out. Here the ordeal started. It was 1.30pm Two airline staff (prasad & one girl) deputed to manage us were desperately trying to get the procedure moving but no senior airline manager were responding, no station manager was responding. Our passports were taken for immigration stamping. No answers for the next 4 hours, no water, no food. We spoke to security officer Mr.Nanavare who said will inform the concerned office but the manager we believe must not have Finally after many arguments & aggression by us we got our luggage & passport at 630pm.....5hours of struggle. Who is responsible? Airline or immigration for slow processing or airport systems ???? It seems there is no humanity in these agencies and they cannot...
Read moreI made booking months ago for an international flight from dubai to dar es salaam. I had some problems before flight and it was not possible to reach anyone to assist. No matter what number i found for contact nobody answered. I had to find someone who is in Tanzania to solve my problems. So imagine they assert they work internationally but you can’t reach anyone for support if you are not in Tanzania, bravo. Finally my day for traveling has arrived and we went to dubai airport with my wife. During baggage handing the attendant informed us that the cabin sized suitcases may not taken to the cargo since people travel with big boxes to tanzania. Imagine we are traveling for Christmas to stay there two weeks and our clothes and gifts for people may not arrive to Tanzania with us, it sounded so stupid but she insisted us to take the bags to cabin with us. However, there were liquid items so we had to give three suitcases to baggage. I had airtag in one of bags and checking it all the time finally after boarding gps showed the suitcase with airtag is also nearby. I was relieved and slept since it was almost 5 am in the morning. After five hours we landed to dar es salaam airport and i saw that the bag with airtag is still in dubai. It was a big suitcase full of gifts for my wife’s family and there was no chance to take it with us cabin. We passed passport control and went for baggage reclaim. However, in the end none of baggages were in dar es salaam. Just because of cargo business vulnerable air tanzania officers must have thought that individual’s belongings are not important so they can be carried anytime. I have no clothes to wear during my stay, i’m not even sure if my luggages will be transferred here or not during my stay, i’m not even sure if they reach me but not important the cargo business works. Bravo! I take responsibility and say this was my mistake with trusting air tanzania to travel internationally but never again. And my advice to these people, please quit this business because you simply...
Read moreTHE WORST AIRLINE I'VE EVER TRIED My friends warned me about Air Tanzania's reputation of delaying but I didn't think it was that terrible until experiencing it myself. The only 55-minute flight from Entebbe (Uganda) to Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) was delayed for 10.5 hours! All they gave me was a short and last-minute message from a personal number (a staff) via WhatsApp. Not having got that message in time, I showed up early in the airport then a staff promised to give those who are waiting lunch at 2pm, but it again came late. Due to all changed, all passengers who were supposed to arrive in Kilimanjaro airport at 3pm eventually arrived at 1am the next morning!
One more thing to note out, they have very funny cancellation policy. On website, it's possible with a cancellation fee, but when I rang different offices, even staffs in headquarters in Dar Es Salaam is not sure about the possibility of refund for people who booked online on their website and paid by credit card (only possible for those who buy in ticket office). And "if it's perhaps possible, it will take 6-10 weeks to refund". Ok it's 2019 and we still need to purchase air ticket in ticket office?
Only fly with this national airline when you have no other choice and you are fine with wasting...
