City Square Restaurant — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

I had the privilege dining here while I was in Dar es Salaam. Since I was staying at Four Points Hotel and wanted to try the best african food in town. I came across this place and I had plain rice and a piece of chicken. I didn't ask for any beverages. At my surprise they didn't not have any menu and didn't have any price. When I finished eating I asked for my bill and it came up to 40K Tanzanian shillings. I paid for it cash and gave the server 10K tips. The next day I passed by for lunch and I had the same food and at my surprise the food was all delicious despite them warming it in front of their customer in a microwave. This time I had a different server and the bill came up to 45K. I couldn't believe it. So I waited to see another man who sat on the next table. This man had rice and a whole fish 🐟 (tilapia) and he had vegetables and fries 🍟 at my surprise i opened conversation with him and he told me his bill was only 17K. So I sent another guy from the hotel to get me food there while I was standing outside to see if the price will change. He took biriani and chicken and the bill came up to 13K at this moment I knew they're not good. These servers don't have any menu and just bill people based on their feelings. Food is great but servers are just bunch of thieves. Got scammed by 3 different servers in 3...

I loved the food at this restaurant, although I recognised the food in the glass display cases, I can't say I knew the names of the dishes. I love finding local African restaurants, and this was certainly one of them....as it's always a good sign for me to see places busy with local people. There was a good choice of different types of fish, including fresh tuna and king fish, as well as goat - I went for the vegetable rice, stew beans and goat meat (wrapped in tinfoil, which turned out to be a delicious, and very meaty, goat leg). Although obviously not high cuisine, for me this is infinitely better, substantial, incredibly tasty, satisfying and served in a truly local joint. Came to around...

City square restaurant is among the best restaurant in town especially around Posta. Food is affordable and very delicious. Fast services made me give it 5 stars and the staff are very clean, calm and helpful. In summary, customer service here is very great. OMG, i almost forgot the favourite part of the story. While i was waiting for my lunch, i was enjoying their free wifi (catsnet). I will surely come...
