Gulf Global Bed & Breakfast — Hotel in Shangani

We booked a double DELUXE room over hostel world app and got a confirmation for booking. By arrival to the lodge, the reception told us they are overbooked. After a nasty discussion suddenly there was a room for us with 2 separate bads. The room had a very bad shower, no AC and very uncomfortable. We decided to move out. The receptionist insist to have 3 nights cost from us even in case we stay for one night. He blocked the door and was very aggressive. ||We moved out and payed for one night only. There was no excuse no friendly end. ||On the same day we met an older lady stayed in the same lodge which was even crying after a bad service and treatment there. But she couldn't move out as the payment was done in previous for all nights. Pure she. Whether the service neither the quality of the room are acceptable. Terrible hostel and terrible management....

We booked here at the last minute. The staff were great so helpful and friendly. It was spotless they were always cleaning. Breakfast was fine except coffee was instant not brewed. The wifii was spotting but we were able to get good service and great coffee next door at Puzzle. The bed was very comfortable and the shower head was strong. The air conditioner worked great. . Just make sure your room has a hot water heater. Ours did not so the shower was not freezing but not warm. It was very hot when we were there so we didnt mind. The location was great 2 min walk to the old fort. We felt safe walking...

Stone Town is all in all pretty expensive, but this place had a good price and it's well located near the beach and various restaurants and shopping streets. We really don't understand the bad reviews, this is a good place if you are on a budget(sure, the bathroom door didn't close properly, but it didn't really matter because it was in private room). The room had air-conditioning, a fan and mosquito-net. They had a nice rooftop where you eat breakfast and lovely staff. The owner, Moshin, was very friendly as well. I would definitely stay...
