So let’s start off - YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT. There are too many bad reviews of the wait time. Get over it people. The reviews all say this, suck it up you’re on vacation - Hakuna Matata and Pole Pole. Wait time was 45 min from sitting to getting the food. They actually were missing ingredients and went out and bought it but apologized for the delay. They only take cash but they will walk with you over to a local Cambio or a place for credit card (with a small fee). The place and the location does look a bit sketchy but the people running it are very very nice, it is super safe so don’t judge a book by its cover. The drinks were great and very fresh. Like I said they went out and bought some of the ingredients instead of saying, “oh we don’t have it.” The fish burger was tasty. My daughter had the fish and chips which was a hit small but just right for lunch and the curry was flavorful. It is not Michelin star but it is very good. The prices really show how much all the other places overcharge. Lunch for 3 is less than 45,000ksh. You can’t even get a burger at the Hyatt for that :). So 1) pole pole - it will take time 2) the place is bare bones 3) the food is good and fresh 4) the price makes you wonder why everything else is...

We went to Lazuli because of the very good reviews. It was at 4pm. We wanted to order the vanilla banana milkshake. But this was not possible because they did not have bananas available (a lot of their shakes and juices in the menu include bananas). Very disappointing. In my opinion such a simple shake should be available all the day. And if you run out of bananas then you can go quickly to the market and buy some. This is just lazy and unorganized. We ordered other juices instead. They were very good and absolutely reasonable priced. We also ordered a chicken sandwich with fries (9000 Shilling) and a beef burger with egg and cheese (11000). The prices are good but the taste of the food was not so great. The sandwich bread seemed a bit old and dried up. The burger tasted boring. Very little cheese on it. We cannot recommend eating at this place. You can go there for having drinks (if the fruits are available). The staff is friendly although he was barely speaking and pretty quiet. I can only give 2 out of 5 stars: 2 stars for not having bananas and being not able to get some quickly at very nearby market 1 star for bad burger and dry...

We had a late (9:00pm) dinner our first night in Zanzibar. Very close to where we were staying (spice tree by turaco), Hyatt, Serena Hotel we were glad we walked in.

From the outside, it looks rather nondescript but the inside is cozy with seating for approx 15-16 people.

We had a fresh Mango-Pineapple juice and a Lime Ginger Juice ... both were amazing. You can combine a # of fruit to design something that fits your mood and taste buds!

For meals I had the Chicken Burger and my wife had Chickpea Curry... while both were great but the chickpea curry was a cut above.

Everything is made fresh, from scratch which tastes great but also important to keep in mind since full dinner service will take approx 45min-1hr from when you arrive go when you leave.

We had no plans, so were greatful for the experience, great good and ambiance.

Prices are very fair, especially for the quality of food. Making this...

Hidden gem and if you see it from the outside you wouldn’t give a penny. Most of the dishes are half price compared to touristic restaurants. Very good food and especially fresh (they might not have everything and they go out to buy fresh fruits or missing ingredients, therefore you get very fresh dishes and drinks). Plan around 30min till the food is served because they cook stuff in the moment. We had the best cooked tuna ever. We suggest to get the fish of the day. The staff is also very nice and welcoming. If you see there’s nobody inside, they’re in the kitchen, feel feee to knock 😂

Stone Town is full of little gems and this is one of them. Just follow the dirt road next to Stone Town CafĂ© and Dolphin Restaurant and right after that first corner is the entrance. Very low key but very much like a neighborhood restaurant with very friendly staff. I had the fish burger and it was very juicy and completely delicious. And WOW! That lime-avocado-coconut smoothie was fantastic. And guys, if you read this, I’m coming back tomorrow for the fish cakes, so don’t forget the tuna at the market in the morning ;-)
