If you want a nice, cosy, safe experience, you should definitely go to Mwana House in Nungwi! - Especially if you are also interested in being more than just a tourist and get to know the locals -the owner, Abdulla, has a lot of friends; old ones, young ones, European tourists that also has falled in love with Zanzibar and now lives there- and if you want to meet other tourists on your way - Abdulla will give you a FANTASTIC experience you will never forget!||||I stayed at Mwana House in July 2018. I heard INCREDIBLY many good things about this place from my friends in Denmark, and about Abdulla, the owner, before I arrived. Mwana House is as I mentioned a nice place to stay, it is cosy and comfortable, the garden is beautiful and calm - but mostly Abdulla is the one that makes your stay FANTASTIC. HE IS THE BEST HOST I HAVE EVER MET (and I have travelled A LOT OF PLACES around the world, so it says a lot!) He is sincerely interested in you having the nicest time while you're in Nungwi. He is so helpful; ordered a taxi for me in his expense, when I couldn't find my way back to the hotel, he showed us the nicest places in Nungwi; restaurants, events, the local places, and he went with us to the airport to order tickets back to Tanzania where we had to take our flight back to Copenhagen, and got us a fair price because he has friends everywhere in Zanzibar. :-) Also at the airport!||||If you are going to Nungwi, you shouldn't miss...
Read moreWe booked a room entitled "Double or Twin Room". We were a couple and wanted a double room but on arrival were shown a twin room. If we'd clicked on the the links in the confirmation we'd have seen it contained 2 beds so the initial mistake was ours. However, when trying to explain the situation and ask if we could be placed in the available double room the owner was unhelpfully confrontational including saying things like "I will talk to you when you make her (gesturing towards my girlfriend) sit down" and "She (again pointing towards my girlfriend) needs to listen" and refusing our request to be allowed 2 mins to discuss our options between ourselves insisting instead we discuss it in front of him. The attitude was so confrontational and disrespectful towards my girlfriend that we ended up paying for the night but not staying. A real pity because a friendlier and less confrontational attitude would have meant we would have happily stayed and paid any difference in price for the...
Read moreBeautiful place surrounded by flowers and a nice garden. Abdulla works with people out of the community which is great - they take care for breakfast and are cleaning the facility. |Rooms are quite big, clean, but basic - exactly what we've been looking for. If you are looking for a five star hotel you're wrong - but if you want an authentic stay with contact to locals you must stay at Mwana House.|It will take you about five minutes walk to the nearest beach. To the "more beautiful one" maybe 15min (we had a scooter so we never walked).|Abdulla is always around and happy to help you in any kind of way. He organized our laundry and also helped out with finding a good diving school (BTW - we would recommend Ocean dive located at the "My blue"...
