$25 DOLLARS A NIGHT??? WHAAAAT?? Let me start this review by saying I'm a little bit of a snob from New York. I've always felt the most comfortable in a five-star hotel, for fear of what I've been told my whole life about staying in cheap places.(and as I said I'm a snob lol) Im Traveling thru Thailand with my daughter and and she convinced me to get out of her shangri-la Hotel and try something off the beaten path... After traveling around in the tuk tuk to see the areas we both decided we like old city the best.. I can discribe it by saying New Orleans,Little Italy, Woodstock, and China town all had a Thia child ! Awana H0use is right in the perfect location, a beautiful quiet steeet, a staff that is so beautiful and friendly and I have to say the attention to detail is amazing! Every part of this hotel has been cared for and loved you can feel that immediately... There is an infinity pool that's small and cold which is great on these 98 Degree Days. YES THERE IS POOL!!! Every wall in this hotel (or hostile) is hand painted beautifully..gleaming white tiles are polished thru the entire 4 floor walk up.
We are on the 3rd floor. Our room has 2 twin beds, a balcony fridge and private bath. (The only thing that's a little weird in the shower is in the same place as the toilet which I thought was strange but immaculately clean.
FIND THIS PLACE..I promise this New York girl would not steer you wrong. OH! Did I mention it $25 american dollars a night? The Shangri-La (amazing, 5 star, unreal hotel) is...
Read moreGood size, clean rooms. Great service. Signs around the place saying to keep noise down after 10pm, so people did and so got good night’s sleep. Aircon in room worked really well. Fridge. Daily drinking water provided, plus toilet rolls during daily tool cleaning. So a good quality room and hotel that facilitated a 8 night stay in Chiang Mai. In addition, the price is really good especially for the quality of the room and hotel. And the location is excellent, about 2 mins walk from the Tha Phae gate, which is ideal place to be located as a tourist. And finally, the service was beyond excellent - lots of little things that made it a superb stay for us including - swapping room bookings around so we could have a double bed rather than just a twin which seemed the only option; providing a free Krathong making art/craft session, so we could make our own Krathong to launch on the river as part of the festival; lots of tourist advice; help with washing and ironing; great tasting and inexpensive coffees and breakfasts; and warm friendly smiles and help every time we passed by reception. I would definitely stay here again. I’d recommend others to do so, just so long as you leave me one room free for when we...
Read moreWe just left after 8 day stay. Was originally planned 6 day but after we juggled other plans, this hotel had no issue to fit us in for couple extra days. Hotel is tastefully decorated, could easily use a little maintenance in a few tired looking areas areas, but nothing to take away from the overall comfortability of the hotel. All staff were excellent, friendly and went out of their way to accommodate. Pool is a steady 22c. A bit if a shock to the system, but very welcome after a long hot day walking around the markets or in the mountains. A great location within easy walking distance of markets, bars, lots of taxi's, scooter rentals, bicycle rentals and of course restaurants. Housecleaning staff was great..including cleaning up some sand from our balcony which came from a day at the waterfalls, that we had planned to clean up after it dried..they beat us to it. Breakfast was not included, but we took breakfast at the hotel on several days. Was always very tasty, and the staff were willing to deviate from the menu for some personal options. A good value hotel in a great location, with good friendly staff. Very...
