Close to Thapae Gate and free to visit. Wat Dokkham is another lesser-known temple I visited because the popular temples are now charging foreigners to enter, - and I thought I would visit a few of the lesser well known ones and see if they're worth a visit instead. Wat Dokkham is situated on the moat road, close to Thapae Gate; easy to check on the map. There is the main temple with fine pictures on the walls and plenty of artifacts. There is a smaller building outside with Buddha statue and others inside. Also, a fine small stupa in the courtyard. Wat Dokkham is a good average Thai temple to visit. Note that when I visited there were three dogs in the courtyard that barked a lot and appeared menacing. I stood still for a while, let them sniff me, and after that they lost interest. Good advice at any time, but of course some bigger dogs may react differently.

Wat Dok Kham is a beautiful and peaceful temple near Chiang Mai’s Thapae Gate. It is small but has stunning architecture and well-kept grounds. The atmosphere is calm, making it a great place to relax, meditate, or take a break from the busy city. I had the chance to meet the abbot and ask him questions, which made my visit even more special. He was kind and welcoming. The temple has a long history, dating back to 1783, which adds to its charm. Because it is close to the city center, it is easy to visit while exploring Chiang Mai. Whether you are interested in history, spirituality, or just want to enjoy a quiet place, Wat Dok Kham is worth visiting.

A nice temple for a couple of minutes but after I walked in and started taking a couple of pictures 3 dogs started barking and started to advance on me agressively barking. Fortunately I had a large umbrella to protect me from the sun and I used it to keep the dogs at bay while I backed slowly out of the temple. Never had this happen before in a temple and I've been to lots. An umbrella is mighty useful here for rain sun and wild dogs in this case....
