My family and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, front counter and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. I’d like to share a safety concern that is very disappointing and ruined our trip. The safety of the shower area was very poor, the floors did not have slip-resistant bathmats or a slip-resistant surface, and it was not equipped with any safety bars. This is a 4-star hotel, basic expectations are that the place is safe and family friendly. Unfortunately, my elderly mother slipped and fell in shower on our third night. We called the front desk and the lady knew so little English that she wasn’t able to assist us and we were forced to wait until next day morning to let another hotel staff member know what happened. She tried to offer some room services for breakfast and lunch, and placed a slip-resistant pad in the shower. However, my mom was already badly injured with head, arm, neck, lower back and legs bruises. She was in so much pain from the fall and in traumatic shock. To help her with the pain, we asked for the hotel to provide a spa treatment to help loosen and relax her tension and muscles. The staff then asked us to pay 50%. We are back home now, my mother was taken to a hospital and luckily she did not have nighties that were very serious or any broken bones but of course we were very inconvenienced, she has suffered emotional and physical pain and suffering and it is disappointing that hotel management has not...

The floor is terrible slippery at bedroom and washroom. 2, expensive price: No gym, no swimming pool, tiny public space. Noisy due to school nearby. We can hear the school announcement clearly at morning around 7:30! The room are too small compare it’s four star and high rates. The breakfast is not buffet and we need to order 1 set, once the first set finished, you can order another set. 3, not helpful management The rooms are non-refundable even you booked 2 rooms for 6 nights, as we changed our schedule. Finally we got to refund 1 nights with around 20% penalties. Due to it is not 2 nights we cannot fly to Phuket. As the rooms are small, we want to upgrade with balcony. It cost 800 baht per night, which is really high. 4, staff are nice and helpful. While still cannot cover the above weaknesses...
Read moreI'd give the Makkachive 4 1/2 stars but there are not too many reviews as yet so 4 stars would skew the average in the wrong direction. That being said, this relatively new hotel has a great location. You can take a short tuk-tuk ride to the night bizzare for about $3.50 USD each. You can walk to two of the most significant wats in about 3 minutes... to the center of the old city in about 10-12 minutes... and several restaurants are nearby. Also, the Sunday market sets up nearby as well.
The rooms are clean and functional. The staff is exceptional. When you check in, grab a business card to carry with you because most of the taxi/tuk tuk drivers do not know the location yet.
The only demerit that I can suggest is that it is on a main thoroughfare, and so it can be noisy during rush hours. Ask for a high floor, or a room toward the back, or both. We were on the top floor on the front... which was fine until about 8 am (although I can sleep through nearly anything).
Breakfast was terrific. I ordered the Western meal most days. Everything was very fresh... probably the best breakfasts I had on our 4 week trip...
